Today we’d like to introduce you to Darrius Johnson.
Darrius, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’ve always had an interest in art as far as I can remember. Starting from drawing sketches of everything I’ve seen on TV to creating new characters of my own. I have a musically inclined family, Me and my brother, Dough, would always record our own music on karaoke machine we had in our bedroom. The older we became, the more we started to take our craft seriously. In 2011, A mentor of my brothers suggested to start up his own team. He passed the message to me and I spent countless hours trying to create a name for it. After intense research, I’ve finally found the name that fit, Visionary Acts.
It started off as a music and video production company. As time progressed, I started to find passion in photography and graphic design. Building relationships and networking with the right people brought me a long way.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a photographer, videographer, sketch artist, graphic designer, music engineer, producer, and lyricist as well.
Dabbling in many arts can open your mind up to different visions. Sharing my craft to others to help make their visions become reality is what our company aims to do. We have a slogan that says, “What’s a Vision without an Act?”, telling our audience/clients that if you don’t act on what you envision yourself doing, it’s nothing but a dream. Our company encourages people to embrace their inner visionary. Whether you’re a doctor, painter, music artist, engineer, journalist, etc., you can become and think of greatness.
What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
Don’t be afraid to reach out and link with new people. The best thing I could have ever done was open my mouth. You’ll come across some people who may ignore your artistry, invest in your artistry, and join your artistry. The only way you’ll ever know is going out to local art shows, open mics, and other local events. You’ll come across some very interesting people and some may change your life for the better.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
