Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Walker.
Hi Brian, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am originally from Thomaston, GA, but I’ve lived in the Atlanta area since graduating from high school. I am a graduate of Devry University with a bachelor’s degree in Networking Communication Management. My love for automobiles is why in 2011, I founded my previous production company that focused on creating automotive reviews for local car dealerships. Picking up my first basic DSLR was a tool to help fuel my passion and business.
After sharing my pictures of cars, trucks and SUVs, my wife, Shinia, convinced me to do a bridal shoot for her. She then asked me to take her maternity pictures. After the birth of our son, I began to take pictures of him almost every day. Once we started sharing our photos, several friends asked me to take pictures. I started taking pictures at parties, family reunions, etc. I also assisted my uncle, Royal Andrews (Royal Photography) at weddings, graduations and other events.
Then my friends asked me to photograph their wedding. At that point, I knew I wanted to become a full-time photographer. Naturally, after some brainstorming, I decided to pivot and formed my new company Walker Visual Photography.
I enjoy seeing my creative vision come to life. I go out of my way and take my time to make sure my clients are completely satisfied by providing high-quality service.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Ok, are we being truthful? Well, let’s talk. Sure starting a business comes with all the classic challenges. Getting the marketing just right, finding your ideal customer, and funding the business are all challenges. Sure more customers, more exposure and more money would be great. For me, the most challenging part was just learning to be me and knowing that my work is enough. I am personally now getting to the point where I enjoy the process of creating the photos that my clients want and expect and sometimes that’s enough. Entrepreneurial life is challenging but a great support system and strong sense of purpose can help you through those tough times.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
