Today we’d like to introduce you to Luck Ali.
Hi Luck, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Let me start out by saying I appreciate you for stopping by. I’m currently walking into my 5th year of lashing, and extremely proud. To be quite honest, I’m just as passionate about lashing and building my brand as I were when I first started.
I had my first lash experience as a client back in 2017. Since that very moment, I fell in love with the after effect of a bomb lash set. The confidence a woman feels after a lash appointment is so rewarding. Who can relate? Honestly, no makeup, or a bad hair day, at least I have my lashes.
Over time my love for wearing lashes bloomed into me wanting to further my education. I desired to give individuals a sense of what was given to me. Now I get to give my clients that very same feeling. A feeling of extreme confidence. As of now, the journey continues.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When I first began lashing, I remember lashing from home. I couldn’t afford a space so I had to create one in the bottom of my mother in laws home. I didn’t have any clients and wasn’t sure I would be able to grow my clientele because at that time I was located in Powder Springs. That was too far out from my target audience in the city. I often wondered how serious my clients would take me lashing from home.
Imagine barely having any clients and getting a suite in the city solely on faith. I would use money from my 9-5 to finance my weekly suite rent. As my business grew, I struggled knowing when it was time to quit my 9-5 in the hospice industry. In the beginning, I would work my hospice job for the first half of the day. When I finished the first half of the day, I would rush to my suite in the city to lash clients. One day I thought to myself I’m limiting my business while only taking clients in the evening.I thought to myself I’m going to take a risk and open my books for a morning appointments on a day I was scheduled to work. To my surprise the appointment booked quickly, I realized I was missing an entire audience of clients who needed earlier appointments. I made the decision to aim for part-time with hospice.
Being loyal to a great company almost hindered my business. The company gave me a hard time about going part-time. It was time to take a step in furthering my education so I decided to go to school to get my esthetician’s license. My hospice supervisors didn’t create a space where the school could become my reality. Nothing stops education, and I know how important it is to continuously learn in order to grow. I put in my two weeks’ notice, went to school and never looked back.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in providing luxury lash services. I take the canvas of a woman’s face and enhance a beauty with the skill of lashing. I’m known for offering lash sets starting with Classic Lash Extensions, our most natural set. At Lashes Per Usual we call it “The Plane Jayne”.(for some reason a lot of stylists are doing a way with this set) I still offer this set because not everyone wants to take it there. At the same time, they want simple glam so I give my ladies what they want. I also offer Hybrids, my client’s fav. This set is the medium between the sets offered, not too much and not too less. Then we have Volume Lash Extensions, or as featured on our servicing list “The Bombshell. Glam all the way! I pride myself in creating custom-tailored sets for each client.
I am most proud of my ability to connect with my clientele. I meet so many beautiful woman from different walks of life and interesting career paths. I am normally very introverted, but this career choice has intentionally created a setting where I can share, swell as listen.
What sets me apart from others is the fact that I pride myself in a great customer service experience. From the scent, they smell when they walk in, candles and relaxing music that adds a layer of comfort. Last but not least educating my clients on how to care for their lashes, consulting about lash health and maintenance.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Starting a business was a very grand risk for me. All I knew was that I wanted to tap into the beauty industry and take control of my day. I was suffering creatively because I didn’t have space or time to create. I knew my 9-5 had dead-end unwritten all over it, and I didn’t want that for myself.
I think unknowingly we take risks every day. From the moment we set foot out of bed, we change the day. The unknown future can be very scary, and we sometimes find ways to overthink or talk ourselves out of things. We say things like…Can I do this? Will they support me? I hope they like them. We know what happens when you take risks for others doesn’t always end in appreciation. It gives you a sense of confidence to do something new for yourself. Does doing this thing align with where you’re trying to go? If it does chances are you’ve better do it. It can be life-changing. You can literally be of the brink of a breakthrough. We bet on companies by lending them a hand to do a task for a payment they decide you are worth having. We commit and overwork ourselves on a schedule fitting for them. We hope they will see the value and give us an annual raise of what they see fit. Why not take a risk on you, try the thing, give it a shot, and hold on to the idea that I can change my life. I am powerful, and there are no limits to my time, growth, and increase.
