Today we’d like to introduce you to Chinasokwu Nworu, Chi Ude, Dayo Okeniyi and Walu Mwalilino.
PVO Global is a collective of four enterprising leaders — Chinasokwu Nworu, Chidubem Ude, Dayo Okeniyi and Walu Mwalilino. Connected by our passion for uplifting black culture, and commitment to social impact, we came together to produce high-end cause-based events, nationally and internationally, that promote #PositiveVibesOnly.
We started in 2018, with our 1st event in NYC in March 2018. It was meticulously curated to represent a celebratory atmosphere of black excellence. It was strictly invite only, at a very upscale intimate restaurant in the meatpacking district. We brought together close friends, tastemakers, and influencers from a variety of industries — finance, media, medicine, music, entertainment, fashion, law, etc.
The buzz immediately organically grew, and since then we have produced events in Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Lagos, and of-course NYC. Our most recent event was on 8/24 in NYC, which was special, to say the least. Our next event will be in Lagos, and Accra, on 12/27 and 12/31 respectively.
Has it been a smooth road?
There’s been many challenges; its been tough due to the fact we all have full-time careers, and it’s hard to find time to plan these extravagant events in-between working. Also, these events can be very expensive so we constantly deal with financial challenges as well. There are many more challenges to be listed; but we would be here forever if we listed them all lol smh.
Please tell us about PVO Global.
#PositiveVibesOnly is more than a party – it’s a movement that harnesses the power of positive energy and uses it to effectively empower the culture. PVO is about bringing beautiful people together in a safe and perfectly curated environment. We celebrate individuals, brands and non-profits that are doing amazing and inspiring work in their respective communities.
We promote an environment of gratitude by dedicating partial event proceeds to our community partners: Distant Relatives Project (Washington, D.C.), African Health Now (Nigeria/Ghana) and C.O.O.L. Kids (New York). We’re very proud of the work we’re participating in, domestically and abroad.
We’re very proud of how people have adopted the mantra of positive vibes only, making it a part of their everyday life. We have merchandise as well — Dad hats, and pins, which our friends consistently sport as a constant reminder to walk in positivity.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The experience will continue to be enhanced. The productions will get bigger. The envelope will be pushed farther and farther. Which is what we’ve tried to do at our events. A trademark of ours is our video booth. Our video booths are designed differently each event, and guests look forward to seeing what we do. We have slow motion cameras that capture folks in the booth, which always make the event more memorable for guests.
