Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Lee.
Christine, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
From Poughkeepsie, NY and after serving in the Army, I ended up in Birmingham, AL. I am a proud mother of two wonderful children, Serene and Micah. Hit a rough spot with alcohol abuse for ten years. Establishing a relationship with God and literally having to fight for my life, I was able to heal and overcome alcohol abuse. I self-published a book “Ten Years in a bottle,” walking the reader through my struggle and Victory with alcohol. Fast forward, I wanted to be able to help people take better care of themselves and find healthy ways to cope. I decided to get my certification as a personal trainer with The National Academy of Sports Medicine. To take it a step further, I got my Certification for Nutrition as well. I am currently in school for Psychology because I believe I can impact people’s lives from the inside/out. Our mind, body and spirit all need to be nurtured. My passion is to serve women and children, so they are my focus clientele. It feels amazing to finally be doing what I love.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all! When I decided to take it seriously to get my personal trainer certification, my mother had two strokes. I had to move her in with me and it was very challenging because I was pretty much handling that on my own. Making sure she was good, maintaining employment and trying to be there for my children was exhausting. I was completely empty. COVID-19 played a big factor in a halt to me moving forward because everything pretty much stopped. I was blessed to still have my job at a hospital but with personal training, I wasn’t able to connect with people how I wanted to. It took me over a year to finally get the certification. My mom is doing much better these days and I already have women lined up ready to train with me. To hear my children tell me how proud they are of me is everything. I have an amazing support system!
Inside Out Health-Wellness-Fitness – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Inside Out Health-Wellness-Fitness is a company that provides group sessions as well as personal training for women and children. I offer virtual classes, as well. I am able to guide and assist my clients with meals plans being a Certified Nutritionist. I love that I have an opportunity to pour into other people and assist them to be the very best version of themselves. To see their results is a true blessing. It’s life-changing.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Starting… It’s an intimidating field to get into. I didn’t want to let my clients down and I was a little nervous with all the competitors out there. I just had to jump and go for it.
