Today we’d like to introduce you to Krissi Woodard.
Hi Krissi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Have you ever just wanted more? That was me! I was born in Chicago and was raised to always strive for more! I never knew what “more” was as a little girl but I knew that just existing was not God’s plan. My family relocated from Chicago to Detroit and then in 1997. We made Lithonia our home. I was extremely familiar with the South from spending summers in McCarley, Mississippi but actually living in Georgia was a huge adjustment for me being that I was used to sidewalks and corner stores. I eventually planted my seeds in the South after my mom reassured me that change is apart of life.
My strong family values and desire to set goals as well as accomplish them came from observing my Grandma & Papa Bear. My Grandmother told me as a little girl that I’d be rich; she believed in every single thing that I did. My Grandfather inspired my perspective for always wanting more. He didn’t know how to read but accomplished so much for our family because of his “do more” spirit. This spirit lives in me even now. I am where I am today by not accepting “no” as the final answer and understanding that life is truly full of endless possibilities and opportunities! If my Grandfather was able to start a business and be successful without institutional education, I knew that I could do anything I wanted… and so I did! Striving for more meant not having all my eggs in one basket. As children, we’re told to decide what we want to be as if one career path is the only option.
Attending college also led me to believe that I had to choose one path but in my reality, I could not thrive off of choosing one path. We are taught to go to school, choose a major, stick with the major, and build a life off of it. I originally thought that success came from following that one path but it isn’t. If it was, I would’ve been a lawyer! It is really all about creating your own path. My path has been rewarding as I have been able to do whatever I wanted. I chose my path! I have owned several businesses, some profitable and was blessed enough to break even on some but I managed to always want more throughout the process. I am a strong believer in having multiple streams of income. When I first started dipping into this and that, I didn’t know that I was building myself up to never have one stream of income as an adult. With having a multi-tasking mindset, I thought that earning in multiple ways was the only way. So, here I am now… I am a full-time Real Estate Agent, owner of Picture Perfect Photobooth, and own jewelry business.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I don’t think anything worth having comes without a few obstacles. I am fortunate to understand that everything will not be perfect. I’ve always strived for perfection but I also accept that as being. We are not perfect and everything we touch will not be perfect. My very first business venture as a high school teen had its struggles so being self-employed as an adult would definitely come with challenges. I used to struggle with time management hugely! I worked on Krissi’s time. I had to evaluate myself and think about how important time truly is. Every second or minute that I ran late was missing moments. I can’t expect a client to respect my time if I don’t respect the importance of time. So, I had to overcome this even if it meant setting clocks minutes faster and setting alarms.
I also struggled with being a people pleaser. I wanted to make sure I pleased everyone, even if that meant sacrificing sleep and peace of mind. I did not have boundaries. I did not want to say “no” to anything! It didn’t matter if it was family functions, outing with friends, showing a house, or spending time with my partner. Saying “no” was a no-no to me but I have come to the realization that even my “no” to others really means not right now. I’ve started putting my peace and energy first. How can I be of service to anyone if I’m burned out. Being self-employed, I pride myself on being loyal and dependable so I thought that not being available meant that I’d lose clients. It does NOT! My clients respect me more by keeping communication open, being transparent, and on-time.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
KMW Solutions, LLC is a full-service real estate company. I have been a licensed real estate agent in Georgia since 2006 and have been a full-time agent since 2017. I absolutely love all aspects of real estate! When I formed KMW Solutions, I realized that I had to step away from the average agent mentality and truly learn about real estate. I started surrounding myself with people that were where I wanted to be in real estate and avoided negative energy. My real estate venture started with working with buyers but with my desire for more…
I changed real estate firms and learned exactly what it takes to truly be successful in the real estate world. My previous broker opened my eyes to what real estate really was and exposed me to all the avenues. So now I can offer my clients so much more than what I could as a part-time agent, which sets me apart from others. I do not just offer services. I am a product of my services. I purchased and flipped my first property within a few months of being a full-time agent and still strive for more! I have first-hand experiences with listing homes, selling homes, flipping homes, renting homes, buy and holding homes, commercial leasing, and lease purchasing. I can assist anyone and not be placed into a box of being just a buyer’s agent.
How do you think about happiness?
My family makes me happy! Waking up every morning to my daughter and fiancé brings me joy! Getting a phone call from my mom for no reason at all but to ask me a question she already has the answer to makes me happy! Having my big brother asked me to make Arnold Palmer actually gives me joy. Getting a text from my younger brother for advice and hearing him start the conversation with “Aye man” makes my day. Understanding that life is not promised and that at any given moment, life can change makes me appreciate moments. I never allowed anyone to define who I am so it’s honestly the little things for me and maybe a 120-minute massage!
