Meet Quamay George of Black Pegasus in Fulton County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quamay George.

Quamay, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up, I’ve always been into creating, from dancing and entertaining or drawing dragon ball z characters. I always had an eye for creating something from nothing. I grew up with not many materials but I always admired my family however, I always wanted something for myself. I realized that the only way a black man will become truly free is if he creates his own world, and that’s where I came about an idea to basically create a brand or an idea that’s global, relatable and inspiring. During the years all of my talents became the brand from Music, photography, modeling and most cases fashion. Years later, I have people that are in position building the name. I want to encourage and uplift a nation of creators; I believe as a society we sometime aren’t able to see who we can be and we just live in box. I think it’s time that we start giving out more love and that’s how I got to where I am. I allow people to spread their wings and I continue to push them to greater levels.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I love the life I live because I believe God has given me gifts that I can’t turn my back on. With that being said the obstacles I’ve faced have made me more optimistic and prepared. At a young age I’ve been involved with the law and I thought that was me I let my family down, I let myself down. Most of my challenges came from me. I try not to blame anyone I just try to put it all on me and I want to prove myself wrong. I think I’m strong but God shows me I’m stronger every time.

Black Pegasus – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My brand is a multi-functional brand that can promote businesses and individuals at the same time. Starting off with me as a photographer which I ‘ve been doing for about 5 years. I specialize in making art out of anything. I specialize in creating aesthetics. I started off with being one guy with a message to inspire. I love music, I’ve been in music since the 7th grade and the experience helps me be a poet, a songwriter, a producer, and a composer. This enabled me to work with other artists and I recruited one by the name of Hasan Asheed, that started “Blvck Seafood” another branch of “Blvck Pegasus”. On top of photography I am a creative director where I can direct music videos, photoshoots, and put on shows. With this background of business, I recently learned how to sew and now I’m a designer of another branch of Blvck Pegasus called Ordiefly Apparel and I make handmade items all 1 of 1.

The many gifts I’m given I can recruit people who qualify and willing to support and inspire their community with their gifts. What sets my brand apart from others is that even though I have my own Limelight I can create another light for someone else so they can Spread their wings. I’m most proud that the idea of having my own thing was just a drawing on a paper and now it’s actually a force that can be recognized. It’s very humbling.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
This is one of my proudest moment being featured with Voyage. Besides this the proudest moment for me is when I moved out of my hometown in Florida and came to Atlanta with my girlfriend who eventually taught me all the basics of sewing and she’s the reason I’m a designer now. Being able to create something from nothing and then create a visual for it in multiple different ways is incredible to me nowadays and it’s such a gift from God I just have to keep pushing.
