Meet Justin McDonald of Queens Crown Edge Control in Located in Charlotte

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin McDonald.

Justin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After high school in 2009, I enrolled into the Cosmetology program at Empire Beauty School in Memphis, Tennessee in which I actually dropped out of for a couple months due to financial issues and needing to work and one day at work I seen a customer pull up in a BMW and It was like a light clicked that I wanted to be successful and I needed to return to Empire to finish the program. After a few day of thinking and then talking to my mom I re enrolled into the program and completed the program and became a licensed cosmetologist in Tennessee and I worked in a salon and my mom was living in NC so I started talking to her about moving to Charlotte for better opportunities, I then made the decision to move to and that was a challenge In itself moving and starting over but with the support of friends and family I made it happen.

I worked in salons and did my own thing but I knew I wanted more so now in 2020 with the whole covid-19 Everything shut down and I started thinking of ways to start a new business and make other income, I’ve always been interested in starting a product line so during the shutdown I starting researching and I found a vendor and I was excited it felt like a new beginning so once I got everything together, I started creating a IG account and a Facebook page for my edge control and just letting everyone know what I was doing and I received a lot of positive feedback from family and friends and it was up from there.

Although I did face challenges with receiving my initial shipment due to the shut down and things being on back order but overall it worked out I overcame the obstacles and challenges of trying to start something new in a pandemic, I just had to keep telling myself to stay strong and stay focused and being patient and one of my good friend Calvin who overall is like a brother and owns McFlairquts in Atlanta has showed love along with some other barbers and I really didn’t expect barbers to be interested but it’s been an amazing response for people all over the us, I plan to one day open a store front in Atlanta with product line and more, I am currently enrolled in Real Estate School in Atlanta online because another goal of mine is to continue to break barriers and become a real estate mogul along with a well-known owner of an amazing edge control line Queens Crown Edge Control.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been easy trying to start a business during a pandemic and also trying to enroll in real estate school has been hard And trying to make sure I am keeping up with promoting my business but I kept faith in God and I thank him for keeping me strong.

We’d love to hear more about the business.
I have an edge control company and I am future real estate agent and also, I am a licensed cosmetologist in TN, NC, GA.
