Today we’d like to introduce you to Q Monéa.
Q Monéa found art early in her youth. Art spoke to her, naturally. Her colorful mind dove into this world of art and she has been creating ever since. Her artistic career began with visuals. She designed her canvas into an enchanted playground thriving with life. Q Monéa is self-taught. Beginning with simple sketches and drawings, she began to explore. Love was recognized in all of the art forms. She achieved success in elementary school. Entering into multiple contests and always placing one way or another. In High School, her study continued. Taking at least one art class every year, she learned how to paint and added more quality to her drawings. Q’s senior year led to greater accomplishment. She was chosen to take Advanced Placement Art and Photography.
That year she was accepted into the Governors Honors Program. She made it to the second level in that competition. She says, “Even though I didn’t make it to the final stage, I am very proud of that achievement.” Q then advanced to The Art Institute of Pittsburgh for Photography in 2010. In the past few years, Q Monéa’s works have been included in the Castleberry Hills Art Tour, RAW, and the Chocolate and Art Show in Atlanta, just to name a few. Her future goals are to create as much as possible using divine guidance and to venture out to other places spreading the message behind her creations. She works full-time, living out her passion, all while drawing inspiration from spirit, her subconscious mind, and the power of love.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It most definitely has not been a smooth road, lol. Before, I had not stepped into the power that I have always known I had inside me. There were times where I held myself back with limiting beliefs that I didn’t know I had subconsciously, until now. I struggled with a lot of things that I thought defined me as a person. Things I thought I couldn’t survive without. I was lying to myself, and those things no longer serve me. Honestly, they never really did. I had to overcome thinking that I had to look outside of myself for the answers to things and realize that I am equipped with all the tools I need. Now I know that I am the operant power.
We’d love to hear more about your art.
I want to heal people through my art and vision. My work is about inspiring people and letting people know that they are the creators of their own destiny. It’s about spirituality and manifestation. I specialize in vibrant semi-abstract paintings that have deeper meanings and messages to them. I am proud of the fact that no matter how many failures, obstacles and set-backs I have encountered along the way, I kept going. I didn’t really feel like I had a choice in the matter. This is a big part to what I was put here for. So, I will continue living in my purpose, and quitting is not an option.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I’m not sure I can choose just one! lol… I believe confidence, patience, passion, and optimism are all equally important.
