Today we’d like to introduce you to Noah Anderson and Kelly Donovan.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Noah and Kelly. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We founded Georgia on my Dime a little over a year ago. We both grew up in the Atlanta suburbs- shout out to all those OTP! – but decided to move into the city after graduating from The University of Georgia. We quickly became engrossed in Atlanta’s world-class food and beverage scene, but soon realized that all those nights out can quickly add up!
Missing the food and drink prices in Athens, but still wanting to explore Atlanta, we began searching for happy hour deals around the city.
Over time, we created an excel spreadsheet documenting our happy hour finds that grew to hundreds of different deals at some of our favorite restaurants. Of course, we didn’t want to keep Atlanta’s best deals all to ourselves, so we decided to create an Instagram page and website!
We love to explore our city, and are thrilled that so many people turn to us for help!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building the website was not an easy task. Neither of us had any experience in building a website whatsoever when we first started. In the early days of the site, Georgia on my Dime was little more than a searchable spreadsheet hosted on a drag-and-drop website builder. Eventually, many long nights of trial and error led to the development of our current site that thousands of Atlantans visit every month!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Georgia on my Dime – what should we know?
We are proud to be the only source for an extensive list of up-to-date happy hour specials in the Atlanta area. There are tons of other local Atlanta foodie accounts, but what sets us apart is our focus on deals. Experiencing the best restaurants and bars in Atlanta can be pricey – but if you find the right days/times to visit, you can find great deals without having to sacrifice your bank account. We don’t want money holding anyone back from exploring the city that we all love!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The most important characteristic of our success has been a passion for finding new happy hours and sharing them with our followers. What keeps us motivated is when someone reaches out to tell us that they tried a deal we featured. We love trying new things, and are always searching for the best new spot!
