Conversations with the Inspiring Lindsey K. Dozeman-White

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey K. Dozeman-White.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Lindsey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m a Yankee in the South, and all that entails! I grew up in Kalamazoo Michigan. Shortly after graduating from the Chic University of Cosmetology I moved to Georgia. I toured several salons while working as a caterer and bartender. I continued in the restaurant industry while freelancing as a stylist. I eventually found my salon family in Columbus, GA! Building a clientele is hard, but you cannot give up. This business has led me to places I never dreamed I would get to style in! I’m so fortunate I’ve created hairstyles and makeup looks for boudoir, editorial fashion shows, pageants, theatre, weddings, formal events, personal branding, senior pictures, and everyday wear! When I’m not traveling to style, I love working inside the salon! My clients are everything to me, I look forward to catching up, hearing about their lives. It’s humbling and uplifting every day. I love making people feel good about themselves! Sometimes, they say “it’s perfect” and the Virgo in me shreaks! #nailedit

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Branding your craft in any form is a struggle. You’ve got to be your biggest fan even when you’re not! I heard a message from a mentor… “Artists Supporting artists” and “there is enough money for everyone!” From that moment on, I was only in competition with myself. I like to have fun while I’m working, it’s always an experience! I’m always planning for next time, faster and better and I always ask for feedback, good or bad both will help me grow!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Lindsey K. story. Tell us more about the business.
I am an expert colorist and formal stylist. I travel all over the southeast styling for various events and collaborations! My personality and mouth set me apart! I’m a Yankee in the south.

Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
I come from a long line of “Hair Dressers!” I grew up in the salon. My family has always been a great support!
