Life and Work with Sarah Hooda Virani

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Hooda Virani.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sarah Hooda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story starts back in 2015 when I decided to pick up the camera and start making YouTube tutorials. When I first discovered the YouTube beauty community, I was intrigued. I remember staying up all night watching my favorite beauty gurus. But it wasn’t really the makeup techniques or the “effortless waves” hair tutorials that impressed me. It was the creativity that went into making a YouTube video. It was the interaction between the viewers and the beauty guru that made me want to start my own channel. Yes, there was hesitation and nerves at first. But all of that went away as I got comfortable in front of the camera.

After a year of making tutorials on YouTube, I realized that it just wasn’t for me. So, I began focusing on my makeup artistry business. I had the opportunity to work with the most beautiful clients, who truly appreciated my art. Seeing the reactions of these women upon looking at themselves in the mirror was my reward. Fast forward to the beginning of 2018, I discovered my love for fashion. I had found my niche (and style) and I was thriving! I wanted a platform where I could continuously interact with my viewers and share my fashion and beauty tips in a more informal way than YouTube. I used to get messages on Instagram all the time asking about my outfits and makeup. My husband, like the genius (and photographer) he is, assured me that doing lookbooks on Instagram would be a terrific idea. What started as a fashion inspiration page, has now become a huge part of my everyday life. Yes, taking fun photos and showing off my newest fashion pieces is great, but my Instagram followers are the reason I want to do it all! The amount of outpouring love and support I receive on a daily basis from strangers turned virtual friends, is absolutely unbelievable! They make me want to keep going!

Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing comes easy in this world, right? Of course, there were obstacles! There still are. When I really started focusing on my Instagram, I was extremely hesitant and nervous. I was confident that I could make it work, but I was worried about potential criticism or backlash. I didn’t want to be known as just “the pretty girl on Instagram.” I wanted to send a message to all women. My Instagram isn’t just about fashion and makeup. It’s about being confident in your own skin, loving yourself, coming together as women and living your dreams. However, when you’re putting yourself out into the world, you have to have thick skin and be open to criticism, whether it’s constructive or blatant hate. Luckily, my Instagram family is literally the best, but sometimes I do have days where I’m feeling a little bit down because of my insecurities. I do find myself comparing my appearance or personality to these beautiful women who seem like they have a perfect life. At the end of the day, these things are inevitable, and they will happen. Being at peace with who I am on the inside and outside is what gets me through it all!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with your business – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Often times, people can look at me or my Instagram and think of me as a superficial or shallow person, who only likes to play dress-up and take pretty pictures. However, my goal is to spread a message to women everywhere. My message about confidence, self-love, goal attainment and unity amongst women is something I take very seriously. By putting myself out there every day when I post a picture or talk to my Instagram family, I’m evoking my self-confidence onto other women. I have spoken about my personal insecurities many times, hoping that it’ll open the floor up to more discussions about insecurities and fears. I love working alongside other women who are also in the beauty community to show that two, three, four women are stronger and better than just one. I also am continuing my freelance makeup artistry business and have also started doing mink lash extensions. Not to mention, I’m also the creative director for my husband’s photography company, Moments Photography. Oh, and did I say how much I love traveling?? I’m out here trying to do it all!

Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
I can confidently say that I got my creative side from my older sister, Sanaa Hooda. She was always good at everything, beauty, and brains! Although we are in completely different fields of work, I always admired her drive, focus and hard-working attitude. Fast forward a couple years when I met my husband, I found that he was also extremely hard-working and focused. These two people combined are most definitely the reason that I want to work hard towards my dreams!
