Today we’d like to introduce you to Cappriccieo Scates.

Cappriccieo, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started out as a drummer playing in church, which eventually led to me working behind the scenes marketing and promoting the careers of recording artists. From there, I went on to work for several major labels and eventually landed in Atlanta working for a primary performance rights organization. After several years within the music industry and witnessing, artists struggle with the day-to-day challenges of life, I was inspired to establish an organization that could help by standing in the gap.

The Helen Marie Foundation is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization centered around rendering critical assistance to artists, musicians, and athletes in times of need. Our services are geared towards providing educational, medical, financial and emergency based stabilization assistance for participants specific to their individual needs on a case by case and strictly confidential basis.

The Helen Marie Foundation is a safe haven at the intersection of stability and commitment. We provide vital resources that directly and uniquely impact the overall wellbeing of the sports and entertainment communities.

Has it been a smooth road?
We launched the foundation in July of 2016. For the most part, we have been attempting to attract donations and get the word out regarding our services.

Inspired by Helen Marie Lewis (December 22, 1932 – February 13, 1995), a community leader, activist, and philanthropist. Helen Marie Lewis was a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister with a passion and love for all. Her undying spirit still lives on today and inspires the efforts of the Foundation named in her honor.
