Today we’d like to introduce you to Chanel Scott.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Chanel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I recently Co-authored a book, Girl Power Uncensored, a compilation of women stories by Jae Nash, that tells the story of an experience I encountered over 11 years ago. I made a decision that would eventually lead me down a path of loss, grief, pain, rejection, unforgiveness, resentment, bitterness… and every other emotion felt in a moment of destructible passion. In the midst of what I would consider “imminent death”, I experienced an excruciating heartbreak intertwined with a church hurt that brought my life to a screeching halt. I got caught up in a whirlwind of demonic manipulation and just plain old foolishness. Life came crashing down on me as I watched a man whom I believed God told me was my husband, marry another woman and at the same time, he was my leader, he was my pastor. To make matters worst, whilst I was surrounded by hell, I lost my house, job, friends, church family, my car was repossessed and I was even forced to file bankruptcy. I was in a life’s mess.
Relationships are so taboo nowadays. In today’s culture, people are quick to judge you, at church, you’re rebuked if you dare speak of your desire to want to be in a relationship or even married. You’re ridiculed and called “thirsty” or “impatient”. No one wants to listen to your rant about being lonely. People give you what I call “broken advice”: “you need to love yourself more” or “you need to learn how to be by yourself” or “focus on yourself”, and all of that may be true but there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to be in a healthy relationship with another human being. God has the power to change your circumstances. Today, I live in Atlanta, GA and God have given me a second chance at Life and… Love. I am the creator of CheMinistry, a relationship platform… a live event with nationwide exposure. CheMinistry creates a space free of judgment and absolute love where I as moderator and celebrity panelists have a transparent and candid dialogue with audience engagement about dating and relationships.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a very difficult road. I tell women every day know your worth, know your purpose and be true to yourself.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into CheMinistry, a relationship platform story. Tell us more about it.
The book I co-authored, Girl Power Uncensored, is an amazing accomplishment. To be able to tell my story and be free of judgment, the pain of it all… is life changing. It hasn’t been easy because the object of my affection was a very influential person. People would literally shun me if I’d spoken about it before now. And some still will, but I’ve created two different platforms for women and men to speak freely about their emotions, how they feel about a particular situation. I host a live event, CheMinistry, a relationship platform, created to bridge the gap between purpose driven men and women who desire to progressively move their love life to the next level.
Whether you’re ‘Single’ or ‘Married,’ we’ve all had that moment when we’ve found ourselves enthralled by someone and thought maybe this person has the potential to go to the next level, and then all of a sudden the chemistry begins to change —he stops calling, she stops texting—the relationship becomes stagnate. CheMinistry was created to help get the relationship past the place of stagnation where things become common all too soon.
CheMinistry creates a space free of judgment and absolute love where we have transparent and candid dialogue moderated by myself and 2x NBA Champion Josh Powell as we advocate passionately for healthy relationship. We invite influential panelists as well as guest audience participants to share through experiential knowledge or expertise as it relates to the topic at hand.
Josh and I also launched a weekly podcast, Relationship Status, where we take to the virtual space to talk about Love and Relationships and the varying perspectives between both men and women. Albeit our varying viewpoints, our end game is to change the narrative on romantic relationships and how men and women fundamentally relate to one another, one connection at a time.
