Meet Nekesa J. Smith of Beautifully Driven TV

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nekesa J. Smith.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story starts with me opening a natural hair salon and hair & skin product company. For years, I have had the pleasure of meeting with all types of amazing clients. During our salon sessions we tend to have the most candid, yet inspiring conversations about business, lifestyle, travel, family and the ideology of balancing it all. I attended Spelman College as a Pauline E. Drake Scholar and studied film. I produced one documentary film some years back, and the desire to do film & television was always in my heart. I traveled nationally and internationally interviewing business owners, creatives, and entrepreneurs.

The one common thread that everyone had was that there were different lanes that they took to get to where they are. I believe that those stories have to be told because way too often we see the glory.’ After years of being a business owner, wife, and mom the idea was born to share the stories of other business owners in Atlanta, nationally, and even international.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been smooth road to open a production company, host and produce a show while running other businesses. It’s especially tough when the businesses are established and constantly growing. You can get really comfortable in the success of the established businesses and never take the plunge to start from the beginning.

Please tell us about Beautifully Driven TV.
Beautifully Driven TV complements our business Nekesa Natural Radiance, LLC. which is a natural hair salon, academy, and product company. Like our beauty business, the core is based on making people feel their best, to shine bright enough that all fear and lack dissipate. Our TV show highlights entrepreneurship, and also acts as an amazing edu-tainment platform for our brands. We specialize in empowering the viewer and the guest.

We specialize in highlighting the “ordinary” person who lives a total “extraordinary” life in their business, families, and community. We are most proud of the type of guests that we feature, heavy hitting influencers that work closely with the community and are very impactful.

What sets us apart from others is that we offer the blueprint to various lanes of businesses and companies. Once a new entrepreneur has the blueprint the journey can take them further and possibly without some of the obstacles of those who came before them. “We teach to reach laterally and not above”.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
On my favorite memories from childhood was growing in Connecticut with the calmness of snowy winters, blossoming springs, double dutching summers, and the crisp change of fall to start the seasons all over ago. My other memory was visiting my grandma and cousins in the projects, that as a child felt like an ongoing playground. We were young, fearless, and free.
