Latoya Heyward is a self-proclaimed writer, content contributor, and social media butterfly. Reared in Queens, NY, Latoya is a fashion-obsessed woman who loves to share tips and advice to inspire others through real-life experiences. With a Master’s in Human Resources, Latoya found it hard to find a job in her field due to a lack of work experience in that industry. In 2016, while working in the financial industry, she decided to create a brand and go back to her first love which was writing and fashion. That’s when SheThoro.com was born.

SheThoro is a life and style blog that highlight fashion, beauty, and entrepreneurs. Readers visit SheThoro for industry trends, latest collections, and tips on dressing your specific body type. Her post is written with a positive voice weaved with humor and sealed with a message. Latoya has created a loyal following that’s not only seeking tips on fashion but hope!

Latoya is a regular contributor to TMZ and WSB-TV. She has contributed to N’Style Atlanta, an entertainment vlog that features A-Listers and entertainers, red carpet highlights, and hot spots. She is a fashion contributor to Luxe Kurves and has also worked with Chick-fil-A, BET, Tesla, Fashion To Figure, Plush Boutique, LYLAS Extensions and a host of other local businesses.

In 2018, Latoya decided to leave her seven-year career in the financial industry after her four-year-old daughter suffered third-degree burns to her face. Since then, this mompreneur runs a successful consulting company called, Thoroughbred Consulting full time. She provides beauty transformations for those looking for a one-stop shop for makeovers, interview entrepreneurs, and manages her daughter brand, “Pretty Thoro.” She volunteers in the burn unit at Grady Hospital every week, where she serves as a Peer Counselor to burn victims. Her motto is, if you just do more of the work that fulfills you and help others; the rest will come.” Her voyage isn’t over and she will continue to help and transform those she comes in contact with.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Her daughter suffered third-degree burns to her face in 2018 and life literally stopped for her. She has since devoted her life to helping her daughter heal. She has turned that tragedy into a victory and helped her daughter launch her own brand, “Pretty Thoro,” where she inspires others through YouTube videos and a t-shirt line with inspirational quotes and messages.

SheThoro – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Thoroughbred Consulting is a firm that specializes in interviews, public relations, castings, and beauty transformations. “I want everyone to feel how I feel when I get dressed and get in front of a camera. It’s an amazing feeling. I believe everyone has that inner model in them.” She’s most proud of the ability to help transform individuals who never thought they could be a muse and pose in front of a camera. What set her business apart is her customer service, dignity, and quality to help those seeking something new. She provides a “one stop shop”.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is simply starting the journey. That’s the hardest part. Having the freedom to create and set your own schedule is what I define as success. To some that may sound absurd, and that’s ok. Your dream may not make sense to other people! IT Won’t make sense to other people, and it’s not supposed to. Focus on what really matters! If you can change one person life, then you’ve made a difference.
