Today we’d like to introduce you to Tijania Goodwin.
Tijania, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I am a girl who lives her life with PURPOSE on PURPOSE! I have used every single obstacle I have been through to help me get where I am today. I am an only child who came from a single parent home. As a child, I was able to see the world not only due to my mom having her own travel agency with one of her best friends, but she wanted me to experience things most children have never seen before. As a kid, I believe I was living the best life ever, but little did people know it was super hard being the only child for a parent who had permanent nerve damage on the right side of her body. Life was hard, and I had to grow up so fast starting from the age of 8 years old. I had no clue what a caretaker was, but I sure adapted to it really quick. I managed and was able to take care of my mom the best way I knew how. I finished all my public schooling and went on to college. I graduated from college in 2008 and received my Bachelors Degree from West Chester University here in PA. In 2009, I had to experience the worst feeling ever which was losing my mom in October of 2009 due to sudden organ failure. Of course, I was not prepared for this nor did I not know how to feel. She was only 48 years old. I was so angry at life, the people in it and God. Questioning everything because I felt so lost.
To fast forward to now , I have used that whole experience as a platform to build myself up in a way I thought was not possible. Yes it was a hard time but it showed me how much strength I had to be able to encounter anything. I am now a full-time Creativepreneur and I enjoy every bit of it. I use my talents to create experiences that I know people will always remember. Whether it is an event or it is a design for their brand. I love what I do!
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do? Why? And what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a creative at heart, and I love to create new things each and every day. Each brand I have, helps me embrace a different part of me. The event planning helps me create atmospheres that people will always remember. I love being able to place complete strangers in the room with a common purpose whether is a networking event or an awards gala. Being an event curator, I am able to design events the way I would like to see them! I AM POSH is a brand that lets me help future and current entrepreneurs develop a brand people will always support and remember. I embrace brand identity like no other. I create logo designs for brand coaching for my clients. I want the best for them and each design I come up with, distinctively sets them apart from all the rest. I have been creating since the age of 8 when my mother brought me my first computer. I was typing my homework to designing custom greeting cards for all occasions. I enjoyed every bit of it, and I am so glad my mother helped me tap into that at an early age. My newest platform, which is my podcast Purposely Bossin Up is a place where I can be super transparent. I can create a space for not just myself but for the Bosses being interviewed. We laugh, we cry, and we encourage. The ultimate goal is to let people know that there is an Inner Boss in you and it starts from within. Tap into your inner self and boss up in business and in life! The Tijania Experience is a beautiful place filled with greatness, creativeness and the biggest thing PURPOSE!
Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
I believe the biggest challenge is being authentic. They are not being their true self. People cannot get far by taking someone’s work and not giving credit nor can they do a half job and expect the customer to be happy. We are in a customer service field, and the most important thing is to provide an amazing experience that your clients will always remember and support.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
People can see my work and events on all my social media outlets and my website. People can support by purchasing a ticket to an event that may catch their eye or even order a design service if they are branding their business.
