Meet Cam Overstreet of Chozenonee Photography in Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cam Overstreet.

Cam, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
So it happened around my 22nd birthday. I was going to college and working. I got sick and had to go to the ER and I found out I was type 1 diabetic. This was actually on my birthday so when I got released, I had to stay out of work for two weeks. I was heavy in the car scene and I wanted somebody to take pictures of my car but nobody would. My mother had a camera downstairs and I picked it up and went outside and just started snapping. Everybody liked my work even though that was my first time using a camera.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve struggled with finding a consistent clientele from day one and still to this day. It’s gotten a lot better over the past four years. I’ve hit creative blocks where I don’t shoot but then I have times where I’m just constantly shooting. I just keep going!

Please tell us about Chozenonee Photography.
I’m known for strictly photos even though I can shoot videos, I specialize in photos. I’m proud in the way my quality has changed since I started and my creativity has grown. My diversity is what sets me apart and that’s going to keep me fresh.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Sports I played football and basketball up until my junior year of high school. Just being outside, in general, was lovely.
