Meet Savannah Alexandra

Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah Alexandra.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Originally from Connecticut, I moved to Georgia for college in 2011. I went to SCAD Atlanta and majored in Animation. I grew up on cartoons and video games, and the thought of making my own stories really inspired me to major in Animation. I graduated in 2015 and got a job as an animator, character designer, and illustrator at Primal Screen. I worked on bumpers for Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and PBS Kids. I jumped around to a lot of freelance projects until I ended up getting a job at Floyd County Productions as an illustrator on the TV show, Archer. I currently still do illustration with them, freelance for other companies like Mattel, and I am also growing my own social media. I am married to a wonderful man, and I have 2 Pomeranians and a cat. My dream is to have my own studio that makes shows, games, and toys.

Please tell us about your art.
My favorite thing to do is create worlds and design characters. I am always full of ideas and stories, and I like designing relatable and interesting characters. I like to make stories that encourage, uplift, motivate and inspire people to be better. I also like designing girl characters that have many different body types, and I like to represent many different types of girls, as I believe every girl is beautiful regardless of body type or skin color. I also love incorporating vintage style and a vintage look into my work as well. I love the fashion of the 30s-50s, and I feel that bleeds into my own work.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
I think one of the biggest challenges is that there is so much information out there now and so many people to follow and connect to. I think it is easy to be sucked in and compare yourself to other artists you deem more successful than you. It’s easy to compare your work to theirs and tear yourself down. I think it is also easy to feel overwhelmed and burned out by everything you want to do, and you might feel like you don’t have enough time or energy in the day to do it.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I have work on facebook, twitter, and Instagram. My Instagram and Facebook are Savannah Alexandra Art, and Twitter is SavannahA_Art. I have a lo-fi currently where people can support me on there, and I’m currently thinking about opening an online shop as well.
