Meet RaQuita Weathers of Belle Rouge Photography in Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to RaQuita Weathers.

RaQuita, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always been a creative individual in which I first started my business, the Belle Rouge Company, LLC, as a dance instructor. I was always in front of the camera for either photo shoots, dance videos, etc. Last year, I decided to create a digital dance project to provide my out-of-state students, so that they could learn in the privacy of their own homes. I reached out to multiple production companies but couldn’t quite find exactly what I was looking for. Ultimately, I invested in a Canon 80D camera that provided superb quality and wound up doing the job myself. After the project had ended, I was left with this expensive camera and no other use but to take amazing photos and capture bomb content. In the fall of 2018, I started the Belle Rouge Photography business as a way to share my creative gifts with women looking for great content. It was the best decision I could have made for my business. I booked my first corporate client within the first month!

Has it been a smooth road?
The photography industry is made of creatives. Each has their own style and practices which are unique to their business. In the beginning, I was finding my way around editing, lighting, learning different techniques, and most of all the business side… It was rough at first. Not knowing how many edits to provide, so I wound up doing more than necessary. I was keen on having a quick turnaround to my clients, not really considering the impact of motherhood, family and full-time work duties. I was burning out quickly and low-balling my work.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Belle Rouge Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
‘I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my sh*t.” Erykah Badu

The Belle Rouge Company, LLC was created as an outlet for me to share my creative gifts with women through the art of dance and photography. I curate moments that uplift, encourage self-confidence, and empower. Through my photography, I wanted to create an affordable yet, high-quality service that was made for women like me. I specialize in working with mostly entrepreneurs and creatives. My editing style is fun, vibrant and airy. I like to pull out the depth of each photo and really highlight those overlooked elements. What sets Belle Rouge Photography apart from other photography businesses, is the level of care I put behind my clients and providing unique experiences.

In January 2019, I hosted my first Photography Powershoot titled “Lifestylish”. I found an amazing Buckhead location that oozed with luxury and brightness. I wanted to bring Lifestyle photoshoots to another level and I did just that. Check out my upcoming Lifestylish Powershoot on July 21st. This next location is a mansion and darling I’m going all in with the styling for this session. Only a few spots will be available. Follow my Instagram @bellerougephotography for more details on the next event. (Also, visit https://lifestylishphotos.eventbrite.com to reserve your spot today!)

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Guess what? People are always going to need photos. Whether it’s a wedding, engagement, event, etc. this will be a service that’s not going away easily. Yes, more people will take their own pics with the increased technology in smartphone cameras. But there are certain moments where a pro is needed to really bring moments to life.
