Meet Mark Lee of Lucrative Media in Metro Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Lee.

Mark, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up on Johns Island, SC which is located in Charleston, SC. I grew up playing sports and never thought about music or videos til one day a neighborhood friend asked to put Fruity Loops on my computer. He showed me how to make beats and from there I was hooked with music. I turned my bedroom into a studio, literally traded my bed for a futon and cleaned out my closet to make a booth. I did this all through high school and planned on going to college to major in audio production. My GPA wasn’t high enough when I got to college so they placed me in video production until I could transfer. Literally, one day, a guy walks in with a camera and says you can get it on your student loans. I went and got a camera (Sony HDR FX7 to be exact lol) and just started shooting. I left school to go back home to shoot because nobody was shooting where I’m from.

Over that next year, I linked up with a buzzing artist from my city named Dirty Dave and him and P had just created a company called dirty dollar. I traveled and worked with him for about two years before moving on. Crazy thing is three months later, P created the QC we all know today. I moved back to Atlanta in 2015 after being fired from Verizon and just took a gamble on doing this full time. Since then, I just worked every day and took every opportunity until running into my manager Chico. He told to link with a rising director at the time in Marc Diamond and we worked together for the next two and half years shooting an editing video like “key to the streets” and “everyday we lit” for YFN Lucci. Taking my talents further, I decided to start a production company this year and get more into directing and producing videos of my own. Within five months of starting the company, we’ve shot artist such T.I., OMB Peezy, G-Eazy, Q Money, Damar Jackson, Key Glock, and many more.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Some of the struggles along the way of this journey has been not being able to pay the bills at times or people not believing in your vision and passing on your for different opportunities but you have to work through that and be resilient at all cost.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Lucrative Media – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Lucrative Media is a production hub for content. We do music videos mainly but we are starting to venture into the commercial and film world. I’m known as “The Wizard” because of my edits and I’m really proud of the work we’ve been able to do in such a short period of time.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Right now, we are focusing on taking over the music video world right now and for 2020, we have a few things planned like getting our own facilities and I’ll be launching my personal merch line soon for “The Wizard.”

I am so very proud of you and your accomplishments. Your mother and I went to grade school together and she has always been proud of you and your sisters and so am I. If you ever need a real southern meal with some red rice, just say the word.
