Jerrina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m such a simple woman… I love being comfortable and adding my own little flare to my wardrobe. I started JM&CO. as a way to show women, there truly is beauty in simplicity. You can have fun with basic wardrobe pieces. I like to take my favorite pair of converse and pair them with a beautiful flowing maxi dress, and I can’t forget my leather jackets. That to me is simplicity mixed with a bit of edge.
Has it been a smooth road?
Entrepreneurship is definitely not a smooth road. I have had so many bumps in my road, simply because I didn’t trust my gut. So, I would encourage young women who are fearful of embarking on this journey to sincerely trust who they are and what they bring to the table. Your intuition is your will lead you if you allow it to lead. I listened to others and tried to follow trends in the first year of my business and truth is it hurt so much. I was losing a lot of money and wasted so much time. It wasn’t until I truly tune everyone else out that I started to see the fruit of my labor and why I started. My husband has been an assuming supporter and contributor. He has really grown to understand my entrepreneur spirit and his believe in me has been so so so helpful and inspiring!

I am a portrait photographer and also curator/owner of an online women’s brand called love, jm&co. I’m most definitely proud of how far I’ve come and the lessons I’m still learning in being in business as a young woman. What sets me apart is that I’m on my own journey and I’m trusting in that. I also make sure my products are priced affordable.
Who have you been inspired by?
Omgoshhhh, there are so many. I know it’s cliche to say Oprah, but she is one who does inspire me. Another is Tracee Ellis Ross, her ability to just be herself is why I admire her. She’s so quirky and I see myself in her.
