Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefan and Nina Glazer.
Stefan and Nina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We had always wanted a pug and followed a lot of pugs on Instagram. When we knew we were finally getting our pug, we had already set up her account to get ready to share her with the world. We loved how the photos would make us feel better and we just wanted to return the favor. So, we began posting her puppy photos. It started quick. Really quick. We just kept posting more and more photos of her. Up, until her accident, and that is when her community was so concerned and so many people reached out with the kindest words. We turned our focus, from the first year of her life being fun and carefree, to her recovery from a spinal injury that had left her paralyzed. The outpouring of support was amazing, how her recovery and getting better was helping people around the world get better or face any challenge they may have had. There was something special about seeing her go through physical therapy, acupuncture, even getting her custom braces, people took it to heart and it helped them push through any obstacles that they may have had. All the while, our numbers grew and grew. We looked back and couldn’t believe how crazy the journey is and what she has inspired in all of us. I became a professional photographer and my wife Nina took Philomena as a direct inspiration to make dog based designs in her Etsy shop with SNG Design Co, and Philomena still makes friends around the world daily and warms people’s hearts all while bringing her sassy ways to Georgia in full effect.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Beyond the challenges of her physical problems, which we don’t really notice until we are around non-special needs dogs, our biggest challenge is always coming up with content for social media. To always have a plethora of photos of her ready to share with the world. And to keep on schedule with doing posts and interacting with fans.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Philomena the Pug – what should we know?
We are really known for our Pug Philomena’s Sassy attitude, and it really shows in some of her pictures, in her captions, and of course interactions with some of her “ruder” commenters. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind in the comments section. People love the sass. We are happy with our pug’s personality because it’s part of us.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Petra Ford and her team at Aqua Paws Rehabilitation in Flanders, NJ for the time and effort put in with Philomena in her rehabilitation with giving us the regiment for her physical therapy.
Clayton Blunk and Bill Kitchens of My Pet’s Brace for creating the custom braces for Philomena, giving her a new and safer way to get around.
Our local Physical therapist. Dr. J at the Pawstand in Doraville!
