Meet Shaun Matos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaun Matos.

Shaun, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I got to Atlanta in November 2017 after living in the DMV for five years. Me and some friends from high school decided to move here so we can explore the entertainment industry. Atlanta is very unique but I like it here. I am from a small island called St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands. I’ve been taking film and photography seriously for almost five years now. The camera has given me the chance to go on tours, travel to different countries, shoot stuff for tv, etc. It’s all super cool, what I like most about film/photo is being able to change perspective or give insight. My goal is to become a notorious filmmaker/photographer that has an influence on social change and perspective.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Has it been a smooth road? No. I think my greatest struggle is me fighting with myself trying to be better than I was yesterday.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I specialize in film and photography and I’m best known for my cinematic style of shooting. What makes me proud as an artist is being able to help people tell their stories and watch them grow. What sets me apart is my passion, my passion can’t be unmatched.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in good or bad luck. It’s either you’re prepared or you’re not prepared, my advice is to always stay prepared.
