Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Butler.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Michael. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m from Stone Mountain. To be specific, a special part of Stone Mountain… Pepperwood to be exact. I grew up around and with some talented people. I wanted to play in the NFL growing up, I wanted to be the guy in my neighborhood that played ball. Fast forward, life happened, I ended up going to Shiloh, complete culture shock for me but I needed it. That’s when I really learned football and met and played against some of the best athletes in the game today. But that’s another story. Somehow some way, I ended up playing at GA southern. Graduated and the Whole Pro dream didn’t work out I got pretty far, gained more than I lost. Also, after graduation, I was working in a nursing home. Scared the hell outta me, eventually, I got numb also made friends with patients and doctors. I learned how important life is I saw a lot. Eventually, I had time to think mostly when I snuck off or was on lunch. One day, taking a nap decided that anything can happen to me, I could be here, I might as well go after something BIG and figure it out along the way. So, I left. A couple of years later, somethings worked out some didn’t. I ended up working at Nike. I’m with ALL The Fitness but I’m straight on retail. I can definitely say the people I met working there, were blessings! Also, at the time, I just got hired with 929 The Game/V103/Star94.1 and my Radio Journey began. Eventually, I had to leave Nike to put more time in radio to learn the ropes. My biggest motivator was the cars pulling in valet. I couldn’t be the guy looking through the window wishing. I’m very grateful for radio, it pushed me, opened doors. I’m really blessed to know or even be around the people that I’m around. Helped my acting career tremendously. Shout out to the GA Acting community by the way! Im apart of the TheJonezEntertainmentGroup. A great group of talented individuals but because of them. I got into plays. I can’t act like the journey to get to this point has been easy but I like who I’m becoming.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nah, it has not been easy at all. Some of the struggles I’ve faced along the way was slowing down learning that, nothing is going to happen overnight. At one point, I really struggled with my energy. I was pent up aggression since I wasn’t playing sports anymore. It’s a lot easier now. I pretty much just put that energy along with what I learned from the game into my projects. The biggest struggle is mental. Getting through the days that you have to keep walking when your faith wavering a little.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Mike B. story. Tell us more about the business.
Right now, I would say I’m an upcoming Entertainer Actor. It’s a lot, I’m really just discovering who I really am. And I like it! At the current moment, I’m proud that I still have goals. What sets me apart from others are the Gifts God gave me, I have a passion for fitness which started at a young age. Now, I use what I know to train others and keep my self in shape as well.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I really don’t believe in luck. The rain falls on the just and unjust. When I think about luck, I think about what Denzel Washington said.
