Meet Darryl Moore a.k.a. RonThaDJ

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darryl Moore.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Darryl. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I go by RonThaDJ aka DJ Ron. I am from the Deep South of Mississippi, Born in Jackson MS (City) raised in the (Country) Bolton MS. I am a nationally known DJ (Tour DJ, Mobile DJ). A lot of my peers say if you can make it out of Mississippi that is a great accomplishment, but I believe that if you can leave a legacy for your family and generations to come then you have justified your time on the earth. I begin to DJ back in 2009. I was apart of an entertainment group and helped setup and break down equipment and kind of built a better understanding as to what all goes on behind the scenes of an event and as a DJ. My cousin and I invested in equipment and self taught ourselves how to DJ. My cousin would later join the military and I continued with craft. I would DJ events building a brand and a name for myself while giving awesome customer service for my clients. I have Deejay weddings in Jamaica and built relationships with major clients such as Sky Zone Trampoline Park, major corporations etc. in Mississippi. Within my career I was Djing for a Dance team doing all of their parades and events. This dance team I DJ for was invited to compete against another team that was featured on a “Reality TV” Show on Lifetime TV called Bring IT! The featured dance team was the nationally known Dancing Dolls. I end up Djing for a competition and the TV Producers fell in love with me as well as the head coach of the Dancing Dolls. Opportunity came about and I started DJing for the TV Show for about 5 or 6 seasons. Also, I went on 3 statewide tours called the Bring IT Live Tour touching about 30 to 40 major cites per tour. During the last tour I decided I wanted to take my career to the next level. I thought about which city I really enjoyed and saw a lot of opportunity in. Came to a decision to move to Atlanta GA. Came out here and networked with some DJs and promoters in the city. Some had heard about me and to most of the city I was a new face in the DJ market. I ended up doing one event and gradually accumulated other gigs. I am just touching the surface in Atlanta as I continue to strive to grind and build up my brand. As I continue to DJ I am also working with a few artist that are on the rise as well as acquiring beat production. Coming to Atlanta I have understood and picked up that DJs are producing and multitasking in the music industry numerous ways. I completed few DJ mixtapes, worked with other artist on tours and shows during my career. I am currently making additions to my brand which is a clothing line called Country VS City. Apparel set to come out completely the last quarter of 2019 leading into the top of 2020. It will consist of hoodies, snapback hats, t-shirts, and more. Currently gearing up for the Underrated Tour featuring J.Holiday and Josh Waters.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been smooth, but I have respected the rough and the rugged to this process. Moving away from family and starting my business in a new location is a struggle in itself. Focusing on the passion and business is what keeps me grounded and not overwhelmed. There is also a lot of competition as DJs in the city of Atlanta GA. Other struggles are, mentally understanding that there is a process to everything, from the business, to growth, to the networking. Patience, strategy and keeping God first is key!

What do you do? What do you specialize in?
I am a open format DJ. I cater to clubs, weddings, tours, lounges, corporate and non-corporate events. I specialize in urban markets, top 40 and contemporary markets. People know me for being a more universal DJ, striving to rock any genre and crowds. I am extremely proud of my customer service to my clients and new business. I really strive to over deliver when it’s comes to what my clients are looking for as well as becoming a household name in corporate relationships and businesses in different areas of the U.S.. What sets me apart from others is the fact that I understand that the objective is to please the crowd or the people. I have been put in situations where I know my job, and have a opportunity to help the next person. I really try to seize those opportunities to continue to build relationships and build on my name and brand as well.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I describe success as during what I love full time and being paid for it. Helping others along the way, and leaving a legacy for my future family and generations to come. Markers for me is maturing and growing as a business from where I was 3 to 6 months ago. Setting new personal goals such as being financially free and smashing all of my goals. In addition, finding my true purpose in life and maximizing on it the best of my ability.
