Meet Jay LaFlame

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay LaFlame.

So, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always had a passion for art, so my interest in photography just grew off of that. Also, just being around other photographers I grew a liking to the way you can paint a picture with a camera. It’s like the camera is my paintbrush and the world around me is my canvas. When I”m editing my client’s pictures it allows me to embrace my creativity & gives an insight into my visions that I have in my mind. Although I’ve only been shooting going on a year now I definitely feel like there’s still plenty of room for progression.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Oh Nah, I wouldn’t say its always been a smooth road. As a freelance photographer, I’ve run into my ups and downs. Like, in the beginning, I was feeling like that if I didn’t get a certain amount of likes then people weren’t really feeling my work or they didn’t really understand my vision. But I had to realize that all the likes and attention was gonna eventually come and that I just needed to focus on the actual work, and how to better my craft and not value the number of likes.

Please tell us about Jay LaFlame Photography – what should we know?
My vision/freelance photography which became known as Jay LaFlame is basically me capturing the things around me and allowing my creativity to be viewed by the world to give insight as to how I see things around me through my eyes.

I don’t really like to label myself as just a photographer, and I feel that’s what sets me apart because I bring more to the table than an ordinary photographer. I would like to refer to myself as just an all-around artist because sometimes I have to play the role of a creative director, and also, a stylist if need be.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I would rather not name just specific names because I don’t want anybody to feel as if I left them out, but I would say this I am thankful for anybody who has helped me in any kind of way through my journey and this is just the beginning with so much more work that has to be done.
