Conversations with the Inspiring Whitney Miner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Miner.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Whitney. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
All my life, I have been super sick. Between migraines that started when I was seven, stomach bugs, the flu, sinus infections, colds – I was always sick. A trip to the urgent care or doctor was a monthly occurrence for me. In 2018, I was home sick with a sinus infection after just having the flu for two weeks. I decided that I didn’t want to live this way any longer. I started researching how to boost my immune system. Everything I read pointed to a whole foods plant-based diet. I decided to try it for 21-days. I had done the Daniel Fast with my church every year since 2007, so I knew how amazing your body could feel when you fueled it well. After the 21-days I, of course, felt great. So, I challenged myself to make it to 90 days. Just to see if being plant-based would truly build my immune system (and prevent me from getting sick!). Well, it worked! I felt better than ever. My joint pain, migraines, and menstrual cycle issues were gone. My skin cleared up, I had more energy and focus. I slept better and lost weight. And I didn’t get sick. No sinus infections or stomach bugs. No colds or flu. I was healed. And I wanted to share that with everyone. That physical healing was on the other end of their forks. Eat Plants & Prosper was born as a ministry to help people find holistic wellness through faith, fitness and food.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
On one hand, it has been a smooth road because God gave me this purpose. For that reason, doors are being opened, connections are being made in ways that can only be explained by Him. On the other hand, God is using this as a tool to refine, develop and grow me. So that, of course, comes with its challenges. Old ways won’t open new doors. So, things like finding a balance between being a wife and mother with a full-time job and now, Eat Plants & Prosper as well have pushed me to learn to be more efficient and thoughtful of each minute spent. That hasn’t been easy by any means but I’m getting better each day.

In terms of advice for those just starting on their journey, I would say – find what works for you. This was the hardest part for me. Learning to balance and adjust my life to the new demands of this ministry. For me, outlining what needs to be done for the day (however long the list) and knocking out as much as I can gives me a sense of accomplishment and keeps me focused. Find what helps you to stay focused and efficient.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Eat Plants & Prosper story. Tell us more about it.
