Meet Jonathan Law of J-Law in Thomasville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Law.

Jonathan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My story starts back in 2016. I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember, but my life took an interesting turn that year. I was in an abusive relationship and I was out of church for a year prior to meeting my best friend and mentor, Timothy Leon. He saw me where I was and I then joined the ministry that he and I are both apart of. In June of 2016, I set my sights on pursuing after my dream of becoming an independent artist. I still sing background for Mr. Leon and I’m proud to say that because I met him, I now am in the process of releasing an album. I’ve already released an ep called collateral damage, and it is what I like to call the testimonial album to where my life was then.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. I’ve had my shares of ups and downs. One of the biggest challenges I’ve had to face is having the finances to support my dream and ultimately my purpose. I’ve learned a lot about the goods and bads of the industry but I wouldn’t trade or change anything I’ve gone through so far.

J-Law – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from others?
I am known as J-Law the “trap Jazz” artist. I am an independent artist who’s music is very heavily jazz-influenced. I’m most proud of the evolution of J-Law. Starting out as a singer and evolving into an artist. There are singers everywhere, but not so many artists. What sets me apart as an artist is that J-Law is real and very transparent. I believe that my audience connects to my music, not just through the lyrical content, but also through my performance. Everything I do is for a reason. I push the boundaries of fashion for men. I’m the artist you’ll see in a mesh crop top.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career so far is my single rainbow love. It’s the lead single for the new project I’m currently working on. I’m proud of it because it embodies everything the new album represents. I also am very proud of starting a photography and graphic design company known as TNJ Media Design.
