Meet Morgan Foster of MFoster Salon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Foster.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Morgan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a little girl, I have always enjoyed working with my hands being able to create and design anything beauty. From watching other professional stylist to going home and trying what I just watched on myself. Hair and makeup is something that has always come easy to me. At 13, I began to take on my older sisters friends as clients styling hair in my mother’s kitchen or bathroom whichever was available. Of course, I enjoyed making a little money doing something I loved but I wanted to spend the weekends having fun with friends not working doing hair. Fast forward later in life it’s my second year in college I’m 19 and I have a little boy about to enter the world, I ended up dropping out and moving in with my boyfriend to raise our son and start a life. That life quickly became boring, being a teen mom at home all day with a baby and friends that moved on with their kid-less lives, I found a job working at a hospital in the kitchen passing out patient trays.

The job was cool because I got to get out the house and make some money (not much money) but it was better than nothing. It didn’t take me long to realize that I wouldn’t last long in this environment and needed to find something that allowed me to spend as much time as I wanted with my son and make money at the same time. I remember that night having a talk with my boyfriend about how much I hated my job and how little it pays, he told me I didn’t have to settle and that I should do what makes me happy and that I needed to work for myself and to pray about it. I believed in God but we didn’t talk much, that night I prayed about it and asked God to show me what to do, immediately my mind went back to hair and the joy I had when doing it. God told me to quit my job in a year. A year later I was not in a position to quit my job, we ended up leaving our apartment due to the bad area and break-ins my boyfriend just lost his job and my $3-400 paychecks every two weeks was just not enough for a family of 3. We simply couldn’t afford for me to leave my job, but I kept hearing Gods voice telling me my time was up so I took a deep breath and I left and enrolled in Empire Beauty School. This is where my life began.

Fast forward to now I am on year 5 of chasing this big dream of mine. MFoster Salon is now two years old. I became an extension specialist and I am finally getting ready to be the owner of my own Salon suite! All while launching my luxury extensions line Fari Hair Extensions and I am preparing for my first marketing photo shoot. Being my own boss has allowed me to do everything I love and be a full-time mom of 2. Life is amazing and I encourage anyone chasing a dream that seems impossible not to give up on it because you aren’t where everyone thinks you should be but you are exactly where God wants you to be and your dreams are coming.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No of course not there were many challenges but thats why they say being an entrepreneur is not for the weak or the weak-minded. I had to work and do a lot of talking with God to keep going.
