Meet Tynisha Harris of 2 Gift3d Hands in Metropolitan Atlanta Area

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tynisha Harris.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I knew that I wanted to be a Chef/ Pastry Chef since I was about ten or so. I started helping with different events in my church (to get out of sitting in service – LOL). This inspired me with regard to food and how it is made and should be presented to people. After graduating high school I immediately went to culinary school, Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. Culinary school came so easy to me and I loved every moment of it.

I will admit I realized very early that I did not want to be stuck behind a HOT stove. I would prefer baking and decorating pastries and desserts in a much cooler setting.

Each test, class project, group project, cooking assignment and even public speaking presentations I took on with enthusiasm. It was and still is MY PASSION!!! I graduated with honors in the top of my class Magna Cum Laude. After graduating I began my journey as a budding chef. I took an externship at a huge resort. It was so big that there were hotels inside of hotels. I’m so thankful for the things that I learned and the people I met while I worked there, but I NEVER want to work for a resort again!!

I have always been a leader and this has been reflected in my personal and profession experience. When my externship ended I found my way into Druid Hills Golf Club, one of Atlanta’s top golf clubs. I worked there for eight years. I started off preparing salads and was promoted to Executive Pastry Chef. After eight years, it was time to move on because I had accomplished all that I could with that company. Upon leaving the club I was offered a position to teach at Le Cordon Bleu. Teaching there was one of the best jobs I have EVER had!!! I was there for about two years when Paris decided to shut down all of the Stateside schools.

The past couple of years have been a rollercoaster! I have been managing for other companies, serving as a manager for people. After having a job ripped from me for the third time; now, in May of this year, I have made the bold leap into entrepreneurship!

Has it been a smooth road?
The road has not always been smooth. I have had three jobs end or close, leaving me without a way to provide for myself. It had gotten so bad that I was on the verge of eviction at one point. During that time, I questioned if I wanted to stay in this profession or give it all up. I was questioning God about His plan for my life. I had my life planned out from 9th grade and NONE of this was in my plan, but I trust God completely.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with 2 Gift3d Hands – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
My passion is deserts. I’m a baker. My goal is to open an online bakery – 2 Gift3d Hands. I specialize in wedding cakes, custom birthday cakes, cookies, pies, all kinds of breads. ANYTHING SWEET coming out of an oven, I can do it!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The best part about Atlanta is that it’s always alive. There is so much to do and see. My least favorite thing about Atlanta is the traffic. It’s pretty bad, and on Fridays it starts as early as 2pm!
