Meet Brandon Flanagan of Plumb Doctor in Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Flanagan.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After the death of my beloved grandmother, Janet, I relocated back to East Cobb from Tampa. Needing a job, I took the first one I could find as a helper for a plumbing company. After a year there I moved over to a bigger company where I would go on to obtain my plumbing license. Finding myself with a license but no room to grow at that company I decided to take a leap of faith and start my own company in 2010. I started in a beat up old Datsun truck that was on its very last leg. I handed out business cards to every single person I came in contact with. The first few months were tough. Who wanted to hire a brand new plumber who was working out of an old pickup truck? I mean the local handy man had a better set up than I did. So I saved as much as I could and after I had enough I purchased an Astro van. I was in heaven!!! I was becoming more and more legit. Or at least to me having a work van made me more official in my eyes. Slowly but surely the work started to pour in. Members of my church and friend parents/grandparents started to use me for their plumbing needs. They started to refer me to their friends and family and the ball kept rolling. I would soon have more than enough work and had to hire another plumber to help and then another and the following year another.

Never in a million years did I expect to be a small business owner or a successful one at that but through hard work and dedicated team members I am beyond blessed. Today Plumb Doctor has 4 full time technicians and a full office staff thanks to a little leap of faith and my business development manager Julie Guy, Plumb Doctor provides residential plumbing services to all of Marietta and surround areas.

Has it been a smooth road?
Struggles include learning how to officially start a company (lots of paper work, licenses and fees) time management, scheduling and responsibilities as a company owner. Being responsible sustaining income for not just myself but the families of our plumbers. I have learned a great deal over the last five years of officially being Plumb Doctor.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Plumb Doctor is a family owned plumbing company. We provide residential pluming services. Everything from installation of a toilet, garbage disposal or faucet to full replacement the water and sewer lines to your home. Over 60% of our work is from repeat customers. This is what we are known for. We don’t want to just be a onetime plumbing choice we want to be their lifetime family plumber.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Most definitely! Every home has a plumbing system that will eventually need servicing. Starting out here is a good place because this a very friendly city and most people encourage small businesses.
