Meet MoRa The One of Baby Hair Slick in Douglasville

Today we’d like to introduce you to MoRa The One.

MoRa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in OKC, OK. I grew up in a single-parent home my mom was in home braider my father was absent but I knew him and of him he’s a musician he has a band who plays with. I guess this life was just in me. I’m a Hairstylist/Artist I moved to Atlanta in Nov. 2017 with my four children we were homeless sleeping in cheap motels, but most nights we slept in my car at Wal-Mart parking lot and often behind a couple of church buildings, to renting rooms from people we met along the way (some crazy situations) some weren’t as bad. I hated feeling like every move I made resulted in what I felt like was a failure. But God! In the midst of a life-changing move homelessness battling depression death all this at what seemed such a chaotic time, I was still going. Determination and a bit of craziness had to have kicked in cause no matter how bad I wanted to give up or how much was going wrong my friends, family telling me to come home. I was still fighting I was offered a job at Salon Eshelon co-owned by Love and Hip hop Atlanta reality tv star Yung Joc. I worked there for about five (months) or minutes 😂 yea, that was interesting. I was a barbershop in powder springs for a while till that went arye before landing where I’m currently slaying and slicking baby hairs in the Powdersprings/Douglasville area. I found a home in Hiram. I love it business is good and growing. I love my clients. I’m currently recording a project and writing every day. look out to hear something from MoRa Tha One real soon.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s never an easy road in life especially if it’s in you to be Great the challenges and obstacles you overcome and scaled to get to that place are what determine that and have I ? Yes, would be a Great understatement! Just a yr before I moved here 2016 Feb I had a major back surgery that left permanent nerve damage in my left leg two weeks post-surgery I had my staples removed I received a staph infection at the donor site for my bone replacement I was back in the hospital. After two more surgeries. I went home in a wheelchair/walker a week later my house was the target of a drive by shooting with an ak47 assault rifle. My son who was 11 at time was almost hit by two rounds my nine years old twin daughter saved him I was in the bathroom he had taken me to use it right before it happened he was coming back to get me when the shooting started it was crazy they fired about ten rounds into my house my other daughter was looking out the window when it happened. Thats just a few.

Baby hair slick – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am The Hair Slayer aka @babyhairslick ten years in licensed cosmetology I do all types of styling but mostly braids, I guess I got it honest. I’m not the cocky type to say my braids/styles are the best around or I’m better than the next. I give a great service I connect with my clients with a level of good positive energy. I give their hair the best care I can and I let my skills talk for me and my prices are reasonable. My clients bring new clients, then they bring more I’m learning more and getting better with each client.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is being at a level mentally and financially where I can create or introduce others like me to opportunities I was not provided. To be able to build and help create multiple streams of income for my children to be able to enjoy life without worry or fear of poverty and depression.
