Meet Casey Gibson of Casey G. Photography in Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey Gibson.

Casey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started taking an AV Technology class during my freshman year of high school. I didn’t really get into the whole film and photography thing until the second semester of my sophomore year when I started on my school’s morning announcement crew. That’s where I started to see all the different ways to be connected in the industry and how fun it was to capture moments on camera, whether it be live television, a pre-planned skit or photography. I started taking pictures around the campus with the schools Canon Rebel T6, and that’s when my love for photography really started to show. Throughout my junior and senior year, I got more and more into the visual arts by filming and photographing pep rallies and other activities going on o around the school. Once I graduated highschool, I took a break from film and photography because I, unfortunately, did not have my own camera, however, when I bought my own camera, I immediately started taking Atlanta Pride parade.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, I was limited to taking pictures at school-related functions because of my lack of personal equipment, so that was a major bump in the road, but it has been smooth since I got my own camera

Please tell us about Casey G. Photography.
I mainly specialize in portrait style pictures, but if I have the chance to shoot landscapes or action sports, I will not hesitate to do so. I’m always up for a new experience when it comes to photography. I’m most proud of being able to work within my community and work with friends that I have known throughout high school.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have gotten more involved in photography earlier on instead of focusing on videography, I also would’ve networked more and gotten my work out to the public instead of keeping my Instagram private and only showing friends my work.
