Meet Kalynn Terrell of Nose In the Air ; Nose In the Air Hair in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kalynn Terrell.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My Journey in the hair and fashion industry began fairly early, as hair has always been something that interest me that I’ve been good at since my Middle school years. Meanwhile, It was never a passion that I ever planned to pursue as a Profession. I was in school for Biology with fashion being my ultimate and true passion.

Hair started as a hustle I used to make sure I had funds to accommodate all of my needs and wants, ESPECIALLY while in College at Tennessee State University in which I used that hustle along with my two other jobs to pay plenty of deferment plans to stay in school throughout the semesters.

In my last semester of college, I saved up for four months straight and quit both of my jobs and began to do hair full time to go on to launch my hair company in 2016 formerly known as “Fetish Hair Co.” Where I would then dive deep into wig making where I now provide Signature Pre-styled Custom Units.

Upon graduating college in 2016, I immediately picked up and moved to Atlanta, where I would then grow my business to exceed all of my expectations. From the increase in my first business, My plans were to fund and launch my first self designed fashion collection and in 2018, I was able to accomplish that. In May 2018, I birthed my first child, Nose In the Air Clothing. Following the launch, I soon rebranded my hair company to Nose In the Air Hair as a joint commodity.

Nose In the Air resulted from my passion for MY type of fashion. My aesthetic is geared toward unisex streetwear meets chic style pieces and I wanted to create and design items that really resonate with consumers whose style has an alter ego like mine!

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road by a long shot but I can appreciate every single bump, mishap, and setback I’ve faced. Some of my greatest struggles were mostly mental struggles such as learning to not conform to societal and cultural trends within my industry. Also Learning that there is a thin line between giving the people what they want and creating and producing what you know they need and what speaks to me as a designer and all-around creative being. And the greatest struggle would have to be being grateful and appreciating where you are currently instead of beating yourself up about where YOU think you should be.
