Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Robinson.
Joe, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I got into music when I was around 18 years old. I was brought to the studio by Earlly Mac in 2009. That got me into artist management, which was the base of my career. From there I got into events, touring, & even signing artists.
I came to Co-Found WeRun313, by falling in love with distance running. I was on a stay in Los Angeles and tried running one day and it worked for me so I stuck with it. I met my partner Lance Woods thru mutual friends, he is also passionate about running. From there, we collaborated on bringing people from our community together to run, and it went from there.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Struggles I’ve had along the way was trying to maintain as an entrepreneur. Money doesn’t flow like a weekly paycheck, so I always had to create opportunities for myself and others. But once I get in a groove maintaining isn’t such a hardship.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about APX and WeRun313 – what should we know?
APX management, LLC is a full-service management company for music artist. We manage, executive produce albums, admin publishing, and produce events. One thing that I’m most proud of is the growth I see in my artist. I love to see where an artist is now versus when we first met. What’s sets us apart from everyone else is that we’re uniquely us. We focus on what we’re doing and how we can better our content and message to the world, comparison is the killer to joy and potential.
We Run 313, LLC is a Run Club, we race together, we produce merchandise and do some social events. Our slogan is ”Connect.Run.Build” and I think this is what makes us difference from other run clubs. We connect and fellowship with one another outside of running and at our runs. We grow as a club when we’re in a healthy space share energy. Proudest moments in the club is seeing people who couldn’t run 1-2 miles run 13 miles now, on top of people meeting their fitness goals. Also brings my joy when I see people of my color taking there health serious.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Discipline and focus.
