Today we’d like to introduce you to Marlo Moore.
Marlo, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My journey started around 1970 in Kansas City, Missouri where I starting singing at the ripe age of three, I grew up in church, COGIC to be exact and though I was in church, I never allowed the church to get on the inside of me. I’m the youngest of 10 children and my Father and Mother Oscar and Jeanette Donahue now who are deceased, raised us to be God fearing. My singing ministry consisted of me singing in the Sunshine choir, pre-teen and young adult choir in church. I rebelled of course when I left home to go to the Navy at 18 and turned completely away from the church for many years. Even though I wasn’t completely in church, the foundation never left my heart.
I married an incredible man by the name of Orenthal Moore Sr. and we have two beautiful children named Britni and Orenthal Moore Jr. I am extremely blessed with my family because had I stayed on the path I was going, I wouldn’t be here.
The music journey led me to sing secular music with Columbia and Atlantic Records back in the early 90’s. I am honestly grateful that my career didn’t last long because I would’ve never made it out alive. God showed me in a powerful vision my fate if I didn’t live for him and sing HIS praises. In this dream, I saw myself lying in a coffin and there were thousands of people there. After that dream, I sang my last song, did my last show and didn’t look back. I left the secular music industry immediately and relocated to Atlanta, GA from Washington, D.C. I’ve now been here in Atlanta since 1995 and now I am an ordained Minister of the Gospel, and author of a very powerful book titled His Lady by Day, His Lover by night that gives biblical principles about God’s plan for marriage and I’ve released two amazing projects titled Moore to the Story and Simply Marlo Moore Unrestricted Praise and Worship.
I have a life changing life impacting Women’s conference titled RAW (Reaching All Women). 2020 will be year three of this conference and it has blessed women from all over the country. I also have a weekly talk show on V1075.com that airs every Thursday night at 8pm Eastern that showcases powerful artists, authors, entrepreneurs, Dynamic couples and more. I am grateful to have this opportunity to be showcased with your magazine and I can’t wait for the release of my next singing project as well as a series of books for young women.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Absolutely not in some areas. Challenges included being rejected, talked about, laughed at, friendships that have collapsed and more. I’m beyond grateful however that this didn’t stop me in my tracks. The enemy meant it for evil, but God turned it around for my good. You never accomplish anything great in life without opposition. I truly believe that every closed door opened up an opportunity for God to show Himself mighty when He not only opened doors that have been shut but gave me the keys to those doors…
Please tell us about the company.
Marlo J. Moore Ministries is focused on ministry in the areas of Outreach to Young women who don’t feel worthy of their calling. Whether it be in business, ministry, family, whatever it is, our ministry specializes in making them better and forgetting those things that are behind them and pressing toward the mark of the high calling. My company is known for producing great music, books, conferences, prayer calls and more. My proudest moment from Marlo J. Moore Ministries is the release of my first book His Lady by Day, His Lover by night.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would’ve trusted God more, listened to His voice vs my voice and lastly, I would’ve been silent about my next move. Sometimes as children of God, we must understand everyone isn’t for us and we talk way too much to the wrong people.
