Meet Tiera Fletcher

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiera Fletcher.

Tiera, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Originally from Mableton, Georgia, I went to Harmony Leland Elementary School, Lindley Middle School and I then went through the magnet program at Wheeler High School. I went on to complete my BS in Aerospace Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA in 2017. While at MIT, I joined the Boeing Company in 2015 and I then joined NASA’s Space Launch System program in 2016. While completing my senior year, I worked as a Rocket Structural Design and Analysis Engineer on the program. Additionally, I enhanced my outreach activity by traveling around the world to encourage children and adults to achieve their dreams and speak about the fascinating innovations that are taking place within STEM. My husband and I then formed Rocket With The Fletchers, where we speak around the world, mentor and motivate.

Has it been a smooth road?
Growing up, my biggest challenge was overcoming my insecurities in my abilities. I had a ton of trouble believing in myself. Fortunately, I overcame that challenge and walked into confidence.

Please tell us about your work.
Rocket With The Fletchers represents the passion for faith, motivation, inspiration and of course, STEM. We are most proud of the span of outreach that we have been able to achieve thus far and we are looking forward to expanding further.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
One of the things I like best about the city of Atlanta is the vast amount of opportunity for minorities. One of the things I like least is the violence that plagues our city.
