Meet Amber Brenton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Brenton.

Amber, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always been the person to make people laugh everywhere I go. I remember growing up my family use to get me to go in front of the room to make them laugh. Also, when I use to play sports I use to keep the team laughing on road trips. About eight months, I was waiting to zipline with some friends, and while we were waiting, they convinced me to stand up and make everybody laugh that was waiting for the laugh. I did it, and everybody was laughing. I woke the next morning and called a friend name Darryl Lewis and told him I want to do standup. He didn’t let me back out of it. He said you are going to do your first stand up in your garage. He created an Eventbrite, and it was only 20 tickets available, and we sold out the first hour. I was so determined to follow my dream, I built my own stage with the help of friends.

We turn the garage into a real comedy club. The comedy show was a success in the garage. I name the comedy show True Story because every joke I told really happened. Four months later we did a comedy in a bar. We did a comedy in a bar called Gizmos in Fairburn, GA. We sold out. The people from the first show loved it so much they came again, and the people who didn’t make the first show wanted to see if I really could do standup. I have another show coming up March 14th at Pitty Pat Porch Restaurant in downtown Atlanta. I thank God for the opportunities and the people he put around me to make me a successful comedian. The best thing I ever done was to follow my dream as a comedian.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road working a full time job and chasing your dream can be really hard. You may have to miss out on great opportunities because you have to work. Also, when you get off work, you tired, but you still have to work on your dream.

Please tell us about your wok.
I am a comedian. I am known for my Instagram videos. You can see them @youfunnyab_no_c. Also, I do standup comedy. I am proud of the team I have around me because nobody getting paid and everybody working hard. So the Dream is bigger than me. What sets me apart from others is I’m not afraid to fail because failure is my teacher. Every show I do is not perfect, but I study it so I can be better the next time. I will not give up.
