Meet Amy McCoy of My Hometown Realty Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy McCoy.

Amy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I start my real estate career in 2004 after working in Law Enforcement and Property Management. After making my mark in the community and rising to the top 10% of one of the largest real estate firms in Georgia within the first year I solidified my market share with establishing a reputation of getting deals done for my clients.

In 2007 I was recognized Nationally as one of the top 50 Realtors on the Rise in Realtor magazine after producing more than 200% in sales and closed transaction than the year previous. After surviving the collapse of the housing market, I was able to Open the doors of My Hometown Realty Group. A boutique Real Estate Company. Helping Domestic and Foreign Investors and local clients buy and sell homes. While serving on the Atlanta Housing Authority Advisory Board and serving as Local and State Director with the West GA Board of Realtors, I pride myself with ethics and a committed service to raising property value in some of the most heavily hit communities in the Atlanta Area. I am passionate about real estate and love every aspect of it. For me real estate is more than just a for sale sign.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I thought the biggest obstacle was when I was in the hospital for nearly a month due to an appendix rupture while walking acreage with a developer. While on my death bed. Clients were still flying in town to visit me and I was still writing contracts from my hospital bed. I thought that was going to be my biggest challenge, but it actually was when the market collapsed. As much as I loved real estate, it didn’t love anyone back. I was seeing homes in my area becoming more and more dilapidated and the infrastructure being neglected. The housing values plummeted as the mortgage fraud cases were increasing. The biggest challenge was trying to get others to see the beauty and believe in Southwest Atlanta again. Visiting government leaders to help with the crime in the area. I was able to convince foreign investors to help renovate homes in the area with quality construction to show the difference of what others had been getting away with for years. I challenged appraisers who had been devaluing the community and getting home prices increased not just in my community but around Atlanta that were facing the same issues.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about My Hometown Realty Group – what should we know?
When I first opened the doors to My Hometown Realty Group, I didn’t realize how significant we would grow in a short time. I have become more popular from an International perspective, but my clients here and abroad have recognized our motto – Your Property, Our Priority! They know we will go above and beyond to make sure we try and sell their home for the best and highest price. I am a business woman. I sell results, not promises. I will help my clients design their space for renovations to maximize profits or handle their assets with our property management division are just a few things we do.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I am blessed with a great team. My crew is comprised of members who believe in growth and are aligned with my beliefs for the company. They maintain my rental properties and oversee my renovation projects. I have brought on buyers agents to assist with buyers on our listings so that I can focus on maintaining relationships with my sellers and researching other investment opportunities for my clients.
