Thanks for sharing your story with us Ahkira. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I went to Stephen F Austin State University majoring in Business Management. During the time there, I went through a lot mentally, emotionally and financially. I eventually left to be able to work and gain my independence. I always wanted a business (hints the major) but I did not know exactly what. After a while, it hit me to sell what I naturally bought and sourced. Hair extensions and everything else beauty-related. I did not have a lot in the beginning. So I ended up teaching myself everything I needed to know from YouTube university and google. From the how to make a website to how to market and communicate with vendors. Everyday my brand grew visually. I launched the site in the beginning of 2019. I learn new things everyday and continue to study my audience and market trends. It is not only rewarding but exciting. Everything you see regarding SCN Beauty is all ME. It is the thing I am most proud of to date.

While still balancing my day job during the time of my start up. I was still trying to figure out what my next move would be to begin my freedom from a 9-5. Because started a business does not mean you can now quit and live like pdiddy, lol. I attended a networking event to promote SCN Beauty. While there, I ran across a tax booth. They persuaded me into entering a raffle to win “A tax business in a box.” Now doing taxes had crossed my mind before but literally in and out. Yet, for some reason, it felt like the right thing to do, like why not? Surprising to me, I WON. I thought of it like a gift from God. He had answered my prayers with a whole new business. From that day forward, I took it serious. Getting my registration and certifications, everyday after has been nothing less than a blessing. From the business to the way I was aligning with the right people. Not only did I now have a beauty business but now a need bases business and new career!

Now I get to make people not only look good with the array of beauty, skin and hair products SCN Beauty has to offer. But also feel good by saving money via deductions and credits or by getting a higher return based on tax needs. Both businesses are my paths to generational wealth and financial freedom. I get to not just talk the talk to my siblings and peers but walk the walk. Everyday is not easy but it is worth it. I am now a full-time entrepreneur at the age of 24, and this is just the beginning.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road. With both businesses, I play all roles. Which can get hectic. But organization from day one has saved me a lot. Some of the struggles along the way have just been lack of support, slow months, and figuring out marketing. Nothing great comes easy and eventually, I will have a team to assist me. But until then, I am happy to be so hands on and simply enjoying the process.

What were you like growing up?
My mother always said I was bossy and would have to be in charge of something. Very outspoken and full of personality. A little sassy yet loving. Also, did not like rules or being bossed around. So naturally, I was made to be the boss of my own life. I was the only child for eight years which made me a bit selfish lol. But I was always independent with an active imagination.
