Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I decided to take a leap of faith in January 2016, and my journey has been nothing short of a marathon. Moving away from my family was one of the hardest decisions I had to make. In order to create a better life for them and myself, I made the sacrifice and moved to L.A. on a one-way ticket to fight for my dreams as a clothing designer. Within eight months of living in here, I found myself homeless and starving. A drunk driver ran into my parked car and totaled it. My second car was broken into and all my training equipment was stolen from the trunk. I was slighted on numerous occasions by not receiving compensation from several celebrities that befriended me along the way. I was forced to move from several residences which resulting in me moving a grand total of 30 times since August of 2016. So, needless to say, the road hasn’t been smooth, but I’m eternally grateful for these obstacles and experiences because they have pushed me to go after my dreams and accomplish things I never thought I could do!
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m a self-taught clothing designer. My style of clothing is totally different from any other designer if you ask me. What makes me different is how I use patterns and why I use them. Floral has a deeper meaning to me than just the beauty of life and death. It’s solely about changing and becoming better. I’m a transplant from the soil of where I use to be planted. I’m am proud to be a male trendsetter. I feel that I give heterosexual males a voice by not being afraid to wear colors and patterns.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moments thus far include getting on a plane to go to San Francisco to visit Banana Republic headquarters to see how a company runs their business and participating in New York Fashion week for the first time.
