Meet Casie Camp-Hawthorne of Casie Camp Beauty Studio in Austell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Casie Camp-Hawthorne.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Casie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in a suburb, right south of Chicago. I relocated to Atlanta two years ago with my family for a fresh start. I wanted to bring my beauty business to what they call “Black Hollywood”. I’m moved here in hopes to being successful and being one of the many black women entrepreneurs in Atlanta. This faith move was not easy. When I first got here, I faced many obstacles and was unemployed for six months. I was really contemplating moving back home to Chicago, but I was determined to succeed. Through a year full of trials and tribulations, I kept my faith in God. God allowed me to make great connections with people here in Atlanta. I first started doing lashes at a beauty supply store in Austell and at that time, I grew my clientele. I worked there for six months and then got a job opportunity in my professional field to be a temporary Property Manger for three months. I still continued to take Lash clients on the evenings and weekends. With my temporary job opportunity and lash money, I saved up enough to open my Beauty Studio in Downtown, Austell.

Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all, I was unemployed for six months. My 1st attempt to open a Studio was a disaster. The landlord sold the building and stole my money within three months of me signing my lease. The new owner, want to vacate all of the business in the building, which made me lose all of the money I had put into the studio thus far.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love that Atlanta is full of Black Entrepreneurs. I love that everyone here loves to network. The least thing I like about this city is the TRAFFIC and car accidents.
