Pryor studied Finance, Economics, Art and Law, as well as studied abroad in Russia and Hungary. He also works as a successful trial lawyer who won the prestigious litigator award for the top 1% of trial lawyers in the entire country. He has his own practice in Georgia and also handles cases Nationwide that focuses on serious injury of all types and wrongful death. Pryor has set records for the highest settlement or verdict for cases of their kind in multiple states. Pryor’s client roster includes rock-and-roll hall of Famers, famous music producers, film producers, celebrities, CEOs as well as the poorest of poor. His secret weapon is his hardworking, extremely talented staff who deeply care for our clients. Pryor jokes that it is easier to get a job at the CIA than to work for his law practice.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Pryor’s ongoing challenge is time. Balancing two careers, law and film, which forces him to stay laser-focused and make major sacrifices. In addition, being an Independent filmmaker is tough as you are constantly swimming upstream with only the support of dedicated artists and producers. The reward is an incredible journey that satisfies his appetite for a challenge but also knowing that his work is going to change lives, and, last but not least, the long life friendships forged in the fire of creation together. Limited resources is always an obstacle in filmmaking. Pryor and his team work fiercely to put a great film on the screen without the luxury of a big production budget and limited time. Industry professionals are typically shocked when they view the films and hear about the limited budget and shoot times.
Pryor Entertainment – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
As a trial lawyer, our philosophy is scorched earth, fighting for our clients relentlessly. Our clients are our family and we have to fight for family. As a Marine, fighting is in Pryor’s blood and he enjoys it immensely. Our two priorities are to help our clients on a deeply personal level as well as taking care of them on the law side.
Pryor states that what sets his law practice apart from his competition is truly caring for his clients as people and also fighting for huge results. Pryor takes the hardships in his clients’ cases and uses that as materials that inform his story creation. Law feeds the film in characters, real-life, relevant issues, and great storytelling. What sets Pryor’s films apart is the strong emotional response he receives from the audience. Pryor receives messages from people all over the world with testimonies of how the films have changed their lives. Last Christmas, Pryor received the best Christmas present of all when a lady sent him a message that she was contemplating suicide and she watched his first film “The List” and “it gave her the courage to call the suicide prevention line.” Pryor likes to write Greek tragedies into every genre they produce. The story is paramount. Pryor says the credit belongs to the team that comes together to help create the project. He would be nothing without them. Pryor cites his most secret weapon is his wife, Laura, she’s incredible and doesn’t get the credit she deserves.
Pryor’s films have won numerous awards and nominations, including: Most Inspirational, Best Picture, Best Script, Best Male Lead, Best Director, Best Editing and Best Trailer. The List can be seen on multiple VOD platforms, including Amazon Prime. Blackbear is currently streaming on Netflix as well as all major VOD platforms.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Pryor defines success as simply, “How many people are we able to help with our projects.”
