Meet Steve Rawls of Real 2 Reel Studios in Jonesboro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Rawls.

Real 2 Reel Studios is the longest running, continually operating recording studio in the metro Atlanta area. Real 2 Reel opened its doors in 1976 and was one of the first musician owned and operated studios in the Atlanta area.

Real 2 Reel is owned by Bill Turpin and Steve Rawls.

From the beginning word spread that Real 2 Reel Recording Studios was known for producing great sounds while still maintaining a relaxed and comfortable recording studio vibe.

Over the last 40 years Real 2 Reel Recording Studios has seen many local and national artists record in our facility.

In the 1980’s Real 2 Reel Recording Studio Atlanta hired a young Ed Roland who formed the group Collective Soul while working at Real 2 Reel. Ed was an engineer at our studio for 8 years. Since then Collective Soul has sold more than 13 million albums worldwide.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The advent of digital recording allowed musicians to have a “studio” in their home. The commercial studios viewed this as competition. We embraced the competition and took it as an opportunity to provide our services to all of these new studio owners.

We have the acoustic space and acoustically designed rooms that most home and small project studios do not have.

We built our current studio in 2000 and since that time have expanded our services to include mastering, graphic design, photography, publishing administration, printing and manufacturing of CD, DVD and Blu-Ray products for our clients.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Real 2 Reel Studios – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We like to say that anyone can buy our gear. Anyone can build our acoustic space. It is our people that set us apart from our competitors. Real 2 Reel is known for its customer service, relaxed atmosphere and the “one-stop shopping” that our wide range of services affords our clients.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We embrace the future and the rapidly changing technology and music production and marketing environment.

Our primary focus has been and always will be on the client.
