Meet LuQuandra Rhodes of Rhodes Creative in Augusta

Today we’d like to introduce you to LuQuandra Rhodes.

LuQuandra, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started doing photography back in 2014 when I was 19 years old. I was young and excited to start my new “business” adventure at the time. As time went on, I got discouraged, uninspired, and doubtful. During that time, I was in this world trying to find myself, figuring out what I actually want in life. I was in school for five years and barely could accomplish the goals that I thought were for me. In 2018 I gave birth to the most amazing son name Jaceyon Davis. I always told myself I would do whatever it takes to make sure me and my son will have a successful life.

Two years later, I decided to step out on faith and make a decision that would change our lives for the better. With me already being a graphic designer, I said, why not just tie all of this together. I took the last $600.00 I had in my savings and invested in a new camera. My exact thoughts were “God. I know this is the life you want for me”. I got back in the studio and started working hard, praying, and perfecting my craft. During the month of May, I posted my first photoshoot since 2016, and the rest was history! On July 1st, I’d opened my photography studio and business have been in my favor since. I’m very thankful for this opportunity because without God and hard work, I wouldn’t be here today.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This journey have not been a smooth ride. I’ve made many mistakes along the way. I’ve cried and almost gave up plenty of times. I’ve had to learn so much on a business level, to avoid making the same mistakes over and over. But I always have room to grow and continue to learn this journey.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m a photographer and graphic designer. I create websites, flyers, business cards, and more for my clients. I also help my clients with social media marketing as well. Some of them will have me take over their social media profiles and come up with the content on how things should look and what to post. I’m known for my hard work, great customer service, and dedication. What sets me apart from others is that I go with the flow and willing to learn. I’m very authentic when it comes to myself and my business. I’m willing to help others who’s wanting to do the things I do. Genuinely.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Honestly, I wouldn’t do anything differently. I believe God does Everything for a reason and take you through obstacles so that you can depend on him and what he wants for your life. Everything is just a lesson learned and you just have to learn how to move forward and keep working hard.
