Today we’d like to introduce you to Quarita Futrell.

Quarita, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I remember being three years old in Ahoskie NC and my Grandmother sending me off for my noon naps (which I deeply despised)… the only great thing about this nap day was that my mom would be joining me which meant as soon as she was sound asleep, I would get to work on that hair 😜. So surely she eventually was awakened to her baby girl tying and clasping endless ponytails and barrettes to her hair and all my mother could do was giggle. I learned at an early age to live purposefully and to be guided as an individual. I give thanks to my mom and Grandmother for that introduction and here I am now being guided by the Holy Spirit through the gateway of the hair industry.

Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing worth having is ever smooth during the turbulence that you face at the beginning of something. Hair school and in-salon training as an assistant was crazy rough. I finished hair school as soon as I turned 22 years old. I was training at one of the best salons in DC & I was struggling. 😫 I was constantly crying, working, paying bills, partying, having empty sex and praying/believing for better. I always had deep feelings of inadequacy. I was always nervous and insecure but at the depth of me, I couldn’t forget the greatness that God promised me… even though it seemed as though I would never see the light of things. I kept trekking through the dark tunnel.
