Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisia Hunter.
Alisia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was about 12 years old when I discovered my creative abilities. I use to make clothes for my dolls out of whatever I found, especially socks but I was 14 years old when I found out I was good at drawing. From then on I would draw whatever I could think of. After high school, I moved to Ga to attend the Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur for Fashion & Retail Management and even though I didn’t get much out of attending the school, I did find my love for painting. Fast forward a few years and I decided to sell my art.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being an artist has not been a smooth road for me. One of my main struggles coming up was not having the funds to create and having to find ways to purchase some of the basic materials needed and people wanting you to discount your worth to fit their pockets but I met some really supportive friends and my sisters have always had my back.
We’d love to hear more about your art.
Queen Lemons LLC is an e-Commerce art store that I recently opened where you can purchase pre-made paintings or you can request me for commissioned paintings. I specialize in oil paintings in pretty much every size, as well as acrylic paintings and resin art. What sets me apart from others is my versatility. I paint, sew and do tattoos. I try not to box myself into just one form of creating even though my business is only concentrated on one form of art at the moment. I have so many talents, and I don’t want any of them to go to waste.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have an amazing team of friends and sisters who have motivated me and contributed to the start-up of Queen Lemons LLC. Special thanks goes to Chris Anderson for nominating me for this interview.
