Today we’d like to introduce you to Gloria Sellers.
Gloria, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The birth of my story started with a lot of grace and continuously to be a testimony of hard work and the promises of God. I knew at a young age that I wanted to become a lawyer. Seeing the direct affects of what the criminal justice system had on family members and friends in the community, It was painful to endure, especially not really understanding the legal processes or even the rights of an individual once they had been formally charged with a crime. To me back then, being arrested or charged meant automatic jail time, when in reality, every case must be proven by the State.
I became infatuated with a lot of lawyer shows or lawyers I saw on television. My ultimate favorite TV lawyers were Matlock and Maxine Shaw from Living Single. They were BAD! LOL. I aspired to be just as great as their characters. I was the first in the family to even pursue a legal career, so there was no real family guidance on how to become a lawyer. So a lot that I did when it came to applying for college, scholarships, LSAT, all that was done through trial and error. But I made it. Here I am, a living testimony saying that it does not matter what your family looks like, where you come from, or whatever; when God gives you a vision, you follow that vision with every bone in your body.
Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. There has been tears, sleepless nights and a lot of prayer. I’m forever grateful for ordered steps and divine intervention. I also can’t forget seeking advice and guidance from wise counsels. Don’t ever underestimate the importance of having good relationships with people, sometimes God sends you answers through others.

I am the owner and senior attorney of Sellers Law Group, LLC. Our law firm specializes in criminal defense and personal injury matters. There is a lot of growth happening in the city. More specifically, I am seeing so many black businesses, black creatives, and black entrepreneurs finding their lane and riding that lane to their complete capacity. It’s a beautiful thing.
