Abe, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Shami Kitchen was born out of passion wanting to serve real authentic Mediterranean Food in Atlanta with Chipotle Concept in mind. You are in and out in 5 min which is unheard off, but we wanted to take this further by making everything we serve in house. From bread to pickles, to cutting our own French fries. Basically if we do not make it, we do not serve it.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been an amazing response. We decided to do a soft opening by only letting friends and family know about us and with no advertisement. After opening for 5 weeks only, we have surpassed our expectations. We are selling out every Friday and Sat. Catering business is taking off, working on getting our process in place for sufficient services.

What we do is different from any Mediterranean restaurant in the south. You pick your rice or lettuce bowl or wrap, pick your protein then garnishment to your taste. Nothing is over $8 on the menu. Everything is fresh and made daily. Customers are realizing and tasting it so they return.
Customer count has been the biggest, not to mention the 5 star reviews we are getting everywhere and now Yelp named us one of the hottest new restaurants in Atlanta to must visit.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I grew up in a big family. Big gatherings and food was always a big part of these gatherings. So I grew up having passion for food. I enjoy watching people enjoy what we serve and this is what keeps us going.
